Even cheaper than Nintendo sells SNES roms.
Oh boy, it's Thursday.

DoomSooth: It was Thursday two days ago, too?

Anyway, GOG stopped being Good Old Games in 2012 or something. We still get old games but I don't think they appeal to most of the users. Maybe I'm wrong. I think a lot of those are older than most of the customers. Would be interested in knowing how many of us actually remember games before achievements existed.

BanditKeith2: Agreed I wonder that too as I see so many people on G.O.G and other sites asking where achievements are for games long before achievements was a thing.. I also see far too many seeing games as ''trash'' if they don't have achievements.. I am like''the heck'' when I see those statements as its like they either wasn't around much before that or they are addicted to the rush of getting achievements. Personally I don't care for achievements but that can be nice if they are linked to say getting a whole set of different kinds of armor or even just linked to finishing the game things that either a decement amount of people love doing or something as icing on the cake like finishing the game
well there were plenty of achievements in old games too , just not linked to an online store like now

i like achievements they are so awesome , the pop up in a nice tile , very good feature

I never count the ingame achievements like the achievements now ..But that I mean.. you know ones that aren't for a lack of a better term/phrasing''pop up achievements'' but achievements that was built into the game directly that wasn't a for me annoying ''ping'' or whatever sound chosen to say''hey you got this thing that showed ya did something but doesn't mean anything really nor helps much if any in game''

jdestef: This site seems to have lost it's focus on what made it popular. Good Old Games.

You can't even view games based on release date anymore. In their pursuit of the almighty dollar and constant growth, they have abandoned why we all came to them in the first place.

IMO, GoG needs to split. Launch a modern/steam clone site, but revert GOG back to what it is supposed to be.

Was fun while it lasted....
They still release a fair amount of older titles, they just don't make much of a fuss about it (which kinda sucks, but that's a whole topic). As for the launcher idea, no no no. Galaxy isn't in the best state as it is, splitting resources, even more, would be stupid and you really wouldn't want that. Plus, you can download all the classic titles via offline installers.

There's no real difference between GOG of now than there is GOG of 8 years ago, at least in what they sell. Their messaging and attitude has changed, but i don't think you can say they simply don't release older titles anymore

why not count them as same? now you have to look at them in the launcher and before somewhere in the game menus
if you dont like the popup thats fine , hopefully it can be turned off

yeah some achievement can be forced and totally meaningless , but game had those like coins in sonic/mario

Simple the in game achievements used to pretty often also reward a person with some extra thing .. Now they just seem to as a whole be for a 'rush'' someone gets from unlocking the achievement or to pad out the game for people to play it longer do to achievement they haven't gotten.. For me I only like specific achievements that are meaningless if they are like the icing on the cake of something ... Where as I only like regular achievements if they reward a person with something .. even if its minor. like say a skin or some power/skill
Guys i need a new desk! I finally put my face through this one...

Ah come on...now you're making stuff up.

;)
Well that first post is undeniably entitled and stupid ("Gog stopped being Gog to become this different Gog and it sucks"), but if we refrain from rolling our eyes too hard OP has a reasonable need hidden among all the nonsense.

The OP wants to get older games, and they're definitely becoming harder and harder to find as Gog releases more games. New releases tend to be newer games more often than not (making it harder to find oldies even if their amount increased), and the catalogue gets so big that no human being can be expected to browse through it all.

This leads to the simple conclusion that the store should have a "original release date" option in its ordering feature. That is a reasonable request (that OP didn't make, but whatever). I guess we should put it between "filter owned games" and "mark as owned the deluxe editions of games of which you own the base game and DLCs" in the list of features Gog somehow can't be bothered to implement despite it making it easier for us to find stuff to buy.

What? I mean I am not hating or anything.. Nor am I down voting anything.. I just was calmingly stating my viewpoint.. Besides I have had my own views on things in the forums downvoted .. Honestly If I'd down vote any comment in this thread it'd been tfishell's comment that was mocking basically more or less the ops issue that I'd quote in this message but I have yet to figure out multi quotes on the forum yet.. But ya honestly I ain't sure who downvoted you.. All I know it wasn't me..

Sachys: Guys i need a new desk! I finally put my face through this one...
This subject and the subject of DRM will come up again and again until GOG make some sort of statement. Only then will it be over. It's GOG you should be focusing your frustration on. Not legitimately pissed off customers.
