Cavalary: I'd give a *slow clap* if not for the end...

Leroux: I have to admit I'm too much of a blockhead and possibly not enough up-to-date with memes and expressions in the English language to understand how your comment was meant. The major part was ridiculous to you, but the end redeemed it? Or the other way around? Not that it matters much, just curious. :D
The other way around. And not ridiculous, about the end I mean, but... sad, and unacceptable, to just "move on" when things get so much worse and keep at it.

Ah, okay. I always thought a slow clap was the opposite of honest applause, more ironic, that's what got me confused, heh. Anyway, I'm not a very optimistic person, so at this point I don't have any hope anymore that GOG still honestly cares about their initial fanbase and our opinions, but I'm no bitter person either, so if we can't do anything about it, I think it's not worth to dwell on it too much. And with "move on" I don't mean to embrace the new GOG, but to pay it less attention in the future. But YMMV. Thanks for the explanation!

I dunno, GOG is still really cool IMO. I'd buy exclusively from them if they'd offer GOG gift cards in stores like Steam has. I don't understand the hate they and CD Projekt have been receiving. Granted, I'm a more recent fan, only being around since 2017, but still.. in that short time, they have earned my loyalty time and time again.

It's the cool thing to do now. A month ago the whole forum was all in "CDPR are CCP slaves!!!" type threads. Now it's mostly like 4 threads filled with the same 10 people.

I know how that is, unfortunately. It happened with Bethesda starting a couple years ago. I understand that no company is perfect, all of them have room for improvement, but gamers have become the most whiny and entitled crybabies in the past few years and it's downright infuriating. I wish people could voice their criticism in a respectable way, like a mature adult, then move on. It'd be nice if everyone could be a bit more grateful for the awesome stuff we have in this industry, including CD Projekt.

Gog lost any semblance of "cool" when they fired the first serviceable community manager they've had since The Enigmatic T over a Tweet that was - at worst! - a tasteless joke.
I think that the best adage for any business these days is don't be a fanboi.

I remember my conversations with him. He was pretty cool. Did they really fire him or was it something else?

Ain't that the fucking truth! These companies certainly deserve some scorn for the shit they pull but the endless string of negativity gets tiring quick. This may sound like a cop out but at the end of the day it's just video games ffs. It's just a hobby - just plastic at the end of the day and far worse things are going in the world. It's a hobby to be enjoyed and if gamers are no longer enjoying it then what are they doing with their life?

Voicing your criticism in a respectable way and moving on yields no results. Unfortunately the only way to get heard for the consumers is to be as loud as humanly possible. Respectable criticism didn't cause EA to turn around a thing, but a shitstorm did cause them to fix Battlefront II. Mass negativity is the only way to get something done.

Also, grateful? For what? They are making a product and we are paying for it. It's a non-essential product that none of us need and there's no shortage of choice, including actually free products to occupy our time with instead, what do we have to be grateful for.

As for all the hate CD Projekt is getting - it's entirely justified. Hell, I'd say they aren't getting enough hate. They should be getting more.

You dropped the word "entitled", which is just about the most misapplied word when it comes to online conversations. Well, a lot of people actually WERE entitled to things CD Projekt denied them. If a company advertises a certain feature in the upcoming product and never lets it be known that the feature was removed later down the line, the paying customers are entitled to that feature.

If a company sells a product that is advertised to work on certain hardware, people who own said hardware are entitled to the product working on it. No ifs, no buts, no maybes, no "they'll definitely fix it later, you guys". Launch day.

I am entitled to Cyberpunk working well because I paid for and I have the hardware that's outlined in the system requirements. And my gripes with CD Projekt for not delivering are entirely justified.

Well excuse me for having a passion towards something and wanting it to be better.

Oh, they fired him, alright!

Here's a Eurogamer hitpiece on the subject. (Archive.is'd for your convenience, because you wouldn't want to give money to that trash outlet)
