They thought we'd go down without a fight. They were wrong. Also quite ugly.
Commander, the XCOM initiative stands ready. Train and customize your elite squad, research human or alien technology, and take Earth back through turn-based tactical action, and smart base management.

For some heavily discounted old-school X-COM goodness, check out our Summer Sale.

Too bad the Linux version doesn't come with it, a real disappointment. :(
My guess is Feral's contract for the games they port requires some firm confirmation that the game is played on Linux for them to get paid. On GOG they don't have that and can't without making the game require Galaxy and thus remove the point of buying on GOG in the first place. So that means downloading the right version or browser OS identification or self reporting aren't enough to satisfy their contract. Obviously just my thoughts but I prefer that to them believing in DRM.

Pheace: . Just know that if you try and savescum, you can't load a save, and do the exact same action and get a different result, it's fixed to give you the same result.

Thiev: You can turn that off with one of Second Wave options ;)
(and savescum all the way you want XD)
Another option is to leave the option on and learn to manipulate the RNG. In particular, knowing that the action will give you the same result, do something else (that uses the RNG) instead, and then try again. If it doesn't work, reload and try doing more (or different) actions until you get a RN sequence that allows you to perform the action successfully.

Incidentally, in a game of this type that has a play-by-email multiplayer mode, it might be possible to manipulate the game into giving your opponent bad RNs, causing your opponent to get what looks like bad luck. (I would suggest not doing this without your opponent's consent, as it could be considered unfair game play and perhaps cheating to do this.)

The browser's user agent not being a suitable metric I can understand, but Linux installer downloads not being a suitable metric? Companies get a bit silly sometimes.

Oh god that's evil. XD
But it could also become an interesting battle mode lol.

It could also be that GOG doesn't provide any info to devs or publishers other than number of sales.

That said I download both Linux and Windows installers when I buy a game so its not complete madness to not value the download numbers. I'm sure there are some compulsive backuppers that are sitting on a Windows system but download all the downloaders. You should also keep in mind that this would be a contract designed to minimise how much Feral gets paid.

The Shitlands series are boring .
Weird. From one moment to the other the price jumped a few cents above what I had in the wallet. A bit awkward to make a 10 cent payment but well... worth it.
That'd be silly. What if the game is never played. or even never downloaded? Who gets all the money then? ; p

Anyway, the game is quite good and I'm glad to see it here.
Also have few coins left in my wallet, so hurry up with Bioshock (the original one), The Darkness II and Duke Nukem Forever!
Thanks GoG!

Truly one of the best games ever and an instabuy!

Then it defaults to Windows I'm basing this on something I read about how sales are noted on Steam basically I think it was that if you didn't download the Linux version and play it within a certain period it was classed as a Windows sale

Obviously I read this online and I have no idea now what their source was, indeed I'm guessing these things aren't ever officially confirmed given its contract crap.

Just as a note, if you're in regions getting price hikes, you should be getting a fair price package and currently that doesn't seem to be happening.
Very nice addition!

Sound at least bizarre to be honest.. There are still games I've never downloaded.

GOG: Can we have an official statement regarding this matter?

edit:
Has to be different on GOG, they have no ability to know what and when I'm playing unless I want to.
