The X games - X Gold, X2: The Thread, X3: Reunion & X3: Terran War Pack - are a series of some of the most ambitious and sophisticated space-roaming simulators ever created. This is no exaggeration.

The universe is a vast, ruthless place, a true final frontier, where the strong and cunning prosper while the weak are eaten up alive without mercy. But do you have the guile and determination to make it?
The X Series are true sandboxes - you are in charge of your destiny from the second you leave the hangar for the first time, until the moment you deem yourself satisfied with your galactic conquest.

Even though the complexity may be overwhelming to newcomers, the rewards are incredible: in the X Series you can do whatever you want. Become a roaming mercenary - go from nimble fighters to hulking destroyers, join one of the many factions in war, build and maintain a massive trading empire from rags to riches, even own your own trading posts and facilities. The possibilities are incredible.

You can now grab the entire series at up to 75% off in the Classic X Pack during the Big Fall Promo!

PoulVantera: So tempted to just buy X3:TWP because of a DRM free Albion Prelude but as an owner of the SuperboX myself I'll put it on hold, as much as it tingles, until the neXt sale to see if GOG manages to strike a similar deal like what was mentioned before.
(Also Egosoft *did*, back then, publish a version of Albion Prelude that you were able to patch into your X3:TC without needing Steam - but I don't know if they were forced to remove that later on...)
Incorrect. Egosoft released a no-steam exe which was only available through steam.

Edit: I looked back at this (I was one of the users who abandoned Ego after their steam exclusive) and the no steam exe was available for download from their site, it just couldn't be used unless you previously had albion prelude which was only available at the time as a steam exclusive.

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=333164

Anyway, happy gaming- these games are a great example of the genre.

Damn I've been with X series since X2 and I'm surprised egosoft gave them up. :) I'm' not complaining I'm happy they made it to gog. Great times good fun. I didn't buy the X3 Terran war pack because of the steam requirements from egosoft. I'm might pick it up here since gog is drm free :)

cw8: I played mostly through the gamepad and keyboard. The most used functions like combat ones and docking mapped to the gamepad of course.
Any particular gamepad? I imagine the first game is DirectInput only, meaning some wrapper would help for XInput devices (I already have one that works well) otherwise some axes may not map over correctly. But do the others support XInput or just DirectInput?
Finally, I've been waiting for these to show up on GOG for ages (while playing my retail copy of X3:TC)! Thanks (GOG) guys!

I am seriously tempted by this pack, as I recall the rave reviews for them back in the day. However, to say am a bit 'game heavy' at the moment would be an understatement. Also just bought The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4, so I dunno where I would even find the time (on top of dozens in my library still to play).

One question I have though. I am presuming that each title requires a great deal of time to play. Also, was each sunsequent title an improvement on the previous one? Basically what I am asking is, should I just buy X3? What do the other titles have that it different? If I only have time to really commit to one of these, would it be X3?
X3 Terran Conflict XTended Mod Let's Play
this pack definitely needs X: Superbox bonuses especially soundtrack
anyway I bought all X pack just to help EGOSOFT and GOG to improve the offerings and add X: Rebirth
(superpack stuff should be free to owners of the X3:TW pack)

Have you played X3: Reunion or X3: Terran War before? Do you know which one is better?

I've played none of them, which is why I'm asking about how the control scheme works. Freespace 1 and 2 I loved, and I enjoyed what I played of Freelancer, but some space sims I find get boring or tedious. For instance, when I played Elite on the Acorn Archimedes (many years ago), I liked it, but it got boring fast and I wasn't great at the combat. On trying Frontier: Elite 2, the change in the physics really turned me off the game and I couldn't get into it at all.

Have you tried Sublevel Zero at all? Is it any good?

I have only used Logitech gamepads since the last 2 decades. :) I dogfight and fly just fine.

Think it was also Logitech gamepads back in the 90s, I can't remember.

I got about ~400 hours in each. X3: TC is beefier, has slightly more content, more ships and it's easier to acquire missions from stations in TC. But I miss the good old bulletin board in Reunion and X2.

Yes, I have Sublevel Zero. :)

It's good, but I still prefer the Descent games (via the DXX-Rebirth source port). Sublevel Zero seems to be more of a pick up and play for a short period type of game, say enough to clear one level. It is hard, though, being more rogue-like, what with one life (if you die you have to restart from the beginning), no mid-level saving, random weapon stats and some crafting.
I guess then, for me, if the control scheme in the X games is okay, then it really comes down to how the game plays. Can you just progress through the story missions or do you have to spend many hours grinding for credits and gear and such just to be able to get anywhere?
Oh, the story is , in the later games at least, only a tiny part of the game. After having done the story in X3:Reunion I have played for some 150h in one game round, others have played same round for over a year.

Some non-story play is needed for the stories as well, like getting the reputation up with someone or aquiring materials for something.

Sand-box trading empire simulation in space seems to be the main focus even if you can stay small if you like.

If you hate all kind of grinding these games (still know nothing about pre-X2) are NOT for you.

Marioface5: Agreed. There will be tons of people who bought the bundle before the price fix who won't even know there was ever an issue, and they are no less deserving of getting the difference back than forum users are.
avatar
deonast: Yep agreed on that. Looks like I bought it at the pre-correction price. Wouldn't have noticed except someone commented on an earlier comment of mine so I decided to browse further through the thread.
Debating if I should hassle support for what is AUD $1.40 difference. Guess everything adds up.
avatar
budejovice: I'll write a ticket, but this should be automatic.
avatar
Martek: Done - thanks!

And, yeah, going forward, GOG Support should pick this up and fix it 'automatically' for everyone that paid the 'incorrect' price - without them needing to do a support ticket. I don't mind doing the ticket (thinking of it like an 'early-bird', etc.); but now that Support knows about it - they should proactively handle it for everyone.
You guys are completely right of course - we plan to makes this right for everyone affected, although with the promo going on this will most likely happen sometime next week. Everybody who bought the game at the old price is going to automatically receive the difference in store credit (in the currency they used to make the purchase). :)

An equivalent refund is also possible, and our support team will be ready to help out those that prefer that option.
