UPDATE: Ever feel the urge to smash some familiar faces in? Who doesn't! The All Star Pack DLC is now available for FREE and it lets you kill, maim, and humiliate special guest stars from Orcs Must Die, Payday 2, The Escapists, Saints Row, Broforce, and other beloved franchises, using appropriately-themed weaponry. Put on your special masks and go mess them up!

Worms W.M.D., an exciting return to the roots, is available now for Windows and Mac, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer, DRM-free on GOG.com.

If there's one thing to note about Worms W.M.D. outright, is that at its very core are the very same beloved physics behind Worms: Armageddon. Recreated from the subtle intricacies of movement and shooting, the oddities, all the way through the delicate matter of the ninja rope.

Team 17 is bringing back the most adored weapons that have shown up throughout the series like the Concrete Donkey and Holy Hand Grenade. But there's a lot of new stuff here too — a weapon crafting system breathes new life into the classic arsenal (and gives you something to do between turns), tanks and helicopters introduce a new layer of mobility and destruction, and accessible building interiors provide tactical cover from the fires of wormy hell.

The worms have gotten a makeover too, but the hand-painted 2D battlefields remain, as always, your greatest friend and enemy in single-player and ranked multiplayer mayhem.

Employ your most slimy instincts and ridiculous arsenal for Worms W.M.D., a new take on a classic formula, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Got this game down on my wishlist. I've never played any of the worms series before, but worms world party remastered caught my eye, and that is the only one amongst the others which did. Now this one looks even better.

MIK0: Also is seems GOG is getting the worst version:
- no editor
- no crossplay with steam player
avatar
adamhm: And no Linux version.
Cripes, can Team 17 do anything right anymore?

They can splatter a banner/logo everywhere saying that they provided 25 years of gaming excellence hoping that repeating that lie enough will make it true. Unfortunately there are 25 years of gaming knowledge that prove them wrong. They did good at some point, more than good I would say, but it's not even half of the life of their company, the rest and later years are just building bad reputation over and over.
Sounds like yet another Worms attempting to capture in the Armageddon users that just makes you look at it and say, "why not just play Armageddon?" Or I dunno, Hedgewars or any other good free clone.

Also [insert why isn't it on GOG comment here]

I was actually kinda hype for WMD, but looking this over I definitely think a purchase is not the best idea. At least for now, maybe an upcoming patch will be better than what World Party got.

...? I don't get it.

(W)DRM(S). ;)
And here's another treat you like a second class citizen game. Would it hurt if the mod API had an export/import function that does it the old fashioned way: export file.extension, import file.extension?

Nah, nobody's smart enough for that.

I don't get it either. I cannot decipher that middle worm drawing. How its teeth are supposed to work, to be represented. My mind hops back and forth between the three visual interpretations on the right, without being able to guess the artist's intent. This will prevent me to sleep for a long time.

Matruchus: Nice release but still waiting for Worms Armageddon.
At this point I feel like Team 17 is just doing these new ones to have excuses not to release original Armageddon and troll us. :P

adamhm: So it looks like this is another case where GOG & GOG users are getting screwed over:

So the game is launching today with the map importer, which uses a Workshop Tool. We'll be looking at further Steam Workshop integration going forward.

And a few posts later in the thread:

Steam is the only platform the currently supports the map importer.

adamhm: *sigh*

Oh, and once again- no Linux version here when there is on Steam.
Are they shitting us??? On top of this not being Armageddon? Christ...

Yet another game on GOG that the Linux version isn't available as early as on other store fronts. Damn shameful. Either GOG doesn't care about getting the Linux versions ASAP or they are being treated as a second class store by publishers. Either way they should be doing more. Either work harder for Linux versions if it is indeed GOG's fault or start shaming publishers who withold the Linux versions of their games.
low rated
Every few weeks a new multiplayer game is released on GOG, and every single time the forums are full of "Wow, this game does not have cross play with the Steam version!?"

I really don't understand why people are so surprised, since no GOG game ever get cross play with the Steam version.
Armello, Ashes Of The Singularity, Master Of Orion, Galactic Civilizations III, Worms.... the list is endless.

It's like everyone gets a serious case of Alzheimer's between game releases or something.
I was not surprised at all.

Not true at all.

Here is one of the gog mixes that list gog games that have one or the other version of crossplay included: https://www.gog.com/mix/crossplay_on_gog

8-bit Armies and 8-bit Hordes (missing from that Crossplay gog mix) go even so far that they have a link setup in Steam workshop so we can download community maps from there.

Agreed. Especially since Armageddon is the most community supported/active Worms game till now. I mean all those thousands of gameplay maps available all over the internet make it a must play. Not to forget how much it was modded.

nightcraw1er.488: £20 for a worms game, hahahaha! Another week of staggering releases begins.
My thoughts exactly. They're really afraid of nothing anymore... where's Gamergate when we need it... :/
avatar
RottenRotz: 25 euro for this? And inferirion version to Steam?Wow,just wow...T17 just give us Armageddon and be on your way
25? But that's a steal, it's goddamn 30€ here.

And GOG definitely don't care, they'll just take the money and be done with it.

They've become screw customers, all those promises were just lies. They should just add DRM releases and be done with it.

Quite disappointed, at a lot of things but especially inferior versions at FULL price...
avatar
Fairfox: I forgots I pre-ordered this (since I was going to be in teh UK without internuts). Sweet! Unless it sucks. Then sour.
avatar
Bigs: Preordered as well... def sour - GOG should notify consumer if features are going to be cut / Steam only (though I really should have expected it... :/ )
You're quite entitled to a full refund without questions...

I've honestly had more fun out of Hedgewars than every post WA game combined. For those unaware, think "open source WA with Hedgehogs", 100% free, no compatibility issues, includes versions for every major Linux distribution, and fully compatible with WA's infamous voice packs (copy to \Data\Sounds\Voices if you still have those lying around).
