Prepare for retaliatory action!

UPDATE: Ever feel the urge to smash some familiar faces in? Who doesn't! The All Star Pack DLC is now available for FREE and it lets you kill, maim, and humiliate special guest stars from Orcs Must Die, Payday 2, The Escapists, Saints Row, Broforce, and other beloved franchises, using appropriately-themed weaponry. Put on your special masks and go mess them up!

Worms W.M.D., an exciting return to the roots, is available now for Windows and Mac, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer, DRM-free on GOG.com.

If there's one thing to note about Worms W.M.D. outright, is that at its very core are the very same beloved physics behind Worms: Armageddon. Recreated from the subtle intricacies of movement and shooting, the oddities, all the way through the delicate matter of the ninja rope.

Team 17 is bringing back the most adored weapons that have shown up throughout the series like the Concrete Donkey and Holy Hand Grenade. But there's a lot of new stuff here too — a weapon crafting system breathes new life into the classic arsenal (and gives you something to do between turns), tanks and helicopters introduce a new layer of mobility and destruction, and accessible building interiors provide tactical cover from the fires of wormy hell.

The worms have gotten a makeover too, but the hand-painted 2D battlefields remain, as always, your greatest friend and enemy in single-player and ranked multiplayer mayhem.

Employ your most slimy instincts and ridiculous arsenal for Worms W.M.D., a new take on a classic formula, DRM-free on GOG.com.

So it looks like this is another case where GOG & GOG users are getting screwed over:
So the game is launching today with the map importer, which uses a Workshop Tool. We'll be looking at further Steam Workshop integration going forward.

And a few posts later in the thread:
Steam is the only platform the currently supports the map importer.
*sigh*

Oh, and once again- no Linux version here when there is on Steam.

So W.M.D. means "Workshop Media Device"?
£20 for a worms game, hahahaha! Another week of staggering releases begins.
It seems to me that considering the price-to-quality ratio of the Worms games available on GOG, Worms 2 is destined to remain the best choice. This certainly does not look like it's worth almost four times as much as W2.

Well, Worms 2 is not officially supported past Windows 7, unfortunately.

One question. Is it any good? Team17, regardless the fact that they have the guts to claim they have provided 25 years of game excellence, hasn't published a decent game in 15 years. I always hope for a good Worms games and everytime they release one they prove they don't know how to do one anymore. Has something changed?

Also is seems GOG is getting the worst version:
- no editor
- no crossplay with steam player

Still, the most requested worms game is still not on GOG (it's on steam however). With the unofficial patch is probably the best worms game ever and would sell a lot.

25 euro for this? And inferirion version to Steam?Wow,just wow...T17 just give us Armageddon and be on your way
Nothing can beat the quality original. And it is Worms 2. Even if it is repeated and repeated many times by its own creators.

P.S. And of course the very first Worms was revolutionary and absolutely awesome.

Fairfox: I forgots I pre-ordered this (since I was going to be in teh UK without internuts). Sweet! Unless it sucks. Then sour.
Preordered as well... def sour - GOG should notify consumer if features are going to be cut / Steam only (though I really should have expected it... :/ )

I've considered Team17 a lost cause for DRM-Free long ago and this release is indeed proof they intend to keep it as such.

- Exclusive Pre-Order Bonuses
- Workshop-Locked Features
- No Linux version on GOG

Also, regarding Linux - Team17 are no friends of DRM-Free Linux gamers, when they released Superfrog HD on GOG it didn't come with a Linux version either.

It's ok though, their loss not mine. Hedgewars is a very good Worms alternative and it's also free and is no stranger to Linux.

And no Linux version. I don't know why GOG keeps putting up with this treatment; it's unfair to the users who are getting the second-class treatment, it's unfair to GOG themselves as it furthers their poor reputation with regards to new releases, and this kind of thing is bad for PC gaming in general as it reinforces Steam's domination of the market.

It's no problem if you pre-ordered, as long as you don't download it you can get a refund within the next 30 days.

Team 17 hasn't been good for quite a while now- and the price of the game just gives me warrant to avoid further. I think you can get a refund for the game as long as you don't try and download any extras or part of it (not sure though.)

Hope everyone is happy with their purchase or no purchase either way.

Edit:In Australia it looks like it's $40 for this worms game! It's great they made nice games a long time ago but have just been rehashing/ shovel-ware since/ living off the nostalgia since.

Right. No linux.
And regional price.

GOG should do something about it, but they already neglect to inform their users about the products they sell in the proper way to their own advantage.
They are also enforcing Galaxy Client that lacks tons of feature (no sorting or filtering, really?) and is often used as drm (some feature are locked behind it even if this could be avoided, like GrimDawn multiplayer).
