UPDATE: Ever feel the urge to smash some familiar faces in? Who doesn't! The All Star Pack DLC is now available for FREE and it lets you kill, maim, and humiliate special guest stars from Orcs Must Die, Payday 2, The Escapists, Saints Row, Broforce, and other beloved franchises, using appropriately-themed weaponry. Put on your special masks and go mess them up!

Worms W.M.D., an exciting return to the roots, is available now for Windows and Mac, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer, DRM-free on GOG.com.

If there's one thing to note about Worms W.M.D. outright, is that at its very core are the very same beloved physics behind Worms: Armageddon. Recreated from the subtle intricacies of movement and shooting, the oddities, all the way through the delicate matter of the ninja rope.

Team 17 is bringing back the most adored weapons that have shown up throughout the series like the Concrete Donkey and Holy Hand Grenade. But there's a lot of new stuff here too — a weapon crafting system breathes new life into the classic arsenal (and gives you something to do between turns), tanks and helicopters introduce a new layer of mobility and destruction, and accessible building interiors provide tactical cover from the fires of wormy hell.

The worms have gotten a makeover too, but the hand-painted 2D battlefields remain, as always, your greatest friend and enemy in single-player and ranked multiplayer mayhem.

Employ your most slimy instincts and ridiculous arsenal for Worms W.M.D., a new take on a classic formula, DRM-free on GOG.com.

If there's one thing to note about the beloved physics, is that I would love to experience them through Armageddon itself. ;)
Announcement banner drives me positively crazy.

adamhm: So it looks like this is another case where GOG & GOG users are getting screwed over:

So the game is launching today with the map importer, which uses a Workshop Tool. We'll be looking at further Steam Workshop integration going forward.

And a few posts later in the thread:

Steam is the only platform the currently supports the map importer.

adamhm: *sigh*

Oh, and once again- no Linux version here when there is on Steam.
It's also good to point out that for the game "Sheltered" (they're only publisher in this case), they didn't force the devs to publish the updates for the game on GOG:
https://www.gog.com/forum/sheltered/raid_patch_and_12

So it's fair warning to buyers here: wait some time to see how the GOG version of Worms WMD will be treated compared to its steam version....
Supposedly broken, thus not playable

So, another release that treats GIG users like second class customers... if this keeps up, fronzelneekburm's GOGmix can't hit the limit soon enough.

avatar
adamhm: And no Linux version. I don't know why GOG keeps putting up with this treatment; it's unfair to the users who are getting the second-class treatment, it's unfair to GOG themselves as it furthers their poor reputation with regards to new releases, and this kind of thing is bad for PC gaming in general as it reinforces Steam's domination of the market.

[...]
Perhaps because the alternative is to not release these games at all, which would mean not only miss whatever revenue they bring, but also no further growth of their new releases list?

No matter how much GOG grows each year, they're never big enough to demand, and get, their customers be treated better than "here's a bone for you peasants"...

Bigs: Preordered as well... def sour - GOG should notify consumer if features are going to be cut / Steam only (though I really should have expected it... :/ )
That would cost them sales.

It's going to backfire in the long run though, as it harms GOG's reputation and will cause more and more people to write off GOG & just keep buying on Steam instead, where they get updates promptly rather than wondering if they'll even get updates at all, where they'll get access to mods/the mod tools and other such extras etc.

As far as new releases are concerned, GOG is steadily building up a reputation for "the place where updates are slow to arrive (*if* they arrive at all), where you might not get access to any mods/mod tools because of the Steam workshop, and where you'll probably only get the Windows (and *maybe* Mac) version".

We don't disagree, but apparently.GOG management thinks otherwise. Perhaps the cost is worth it, and we just can't see it.
Nice release but still waiting for Worms Armageddon.
Now when the exclusive preorder bonus is gone my interest in the game drops to pretty much zero.
Another release of a Worms game. And again it's the wrong one!
I'm waiting on reviews. Got sad when World Party turned out to be badly done. So I did not want to preorder at all. I'll wait patiently what's going to happen. It's a shame though because I love my worms world party on the playstation and I heard armageddon on the pc is just as good if not better.

Couldn't be farther from the truth, lack of updates is what stopped me from buying games on release (unless it's an old DosBox classic). Nowadays I have to wait a few months how the updates fare before buying because developers can be lazy in supporting non-Steam stores.

I'm also boycotting all the devs that release a Mac/Linux version on Steam but not on GOG, a perfect example of this is Forced Showdown, the devs are a lazy bunch and I don't support their kind.

EDIT: Then they wonder why GOG sales are low compared to Steam, the fault is their own.

I think you misread or misunderstood what I wrote. I said that the slow (or lack of) updates, missing mod tools/Steam Workshop favouritism and missing Mac/Linux builds that GOG is building a reputation for will make people less likely to buy here, which will hurt GOG in the long run.

That's how I understood it too, and I behave more or less like that since the past 5 months, only difference is I don't buy it at all. I'd prefer not buying a game at all rather than buy it on Steam, doing so would put GOG in an even worse light.

Were those extras really exclusive, in the sense that they'll never be available again, not even as a separate DLC?
