War just came back home.

World in Conflict, a beautiful love-letter to tactics and explosions, is available now on Windows, DRM-free on GOG.com

A hail of artillery pierces tanks and grocery stores, as homes, terrified men, and boys burn under sheets of napalm. Retreat? Never. These are your homes - and you've said your goodbyes fifteen seconds ago. A stunning flash engulfs the now radioactive pit formerly known as Jamestown High and for a few seconds there is silence. But the battle rages on, a dozen blocks down, and your attention is needed elsewhere.

World in Conflict is one of a kind, really. It's an RTS that succeeded in becoming both action-oriented and incredibly tactical, easily accessible but challenging, and a beautiful spectacle of war. It wasn't the first to do many of the things that make it brilliant, but the combination of small-scale tactics on huge battlefields, and the sheer destructive force at your fingertips is unlike any other. You're put in control of a small squad of infantry, tanks, air support or artillery - just one part of a larger clash. Dynamic single-player missions will take you through the various roles and locations in every battle, keeping you constantly at peak intensity as you defend the United States from an onslaught of enemy forces - and then execute a counter-attack in the Soviet Assault expansion.

Commander - three minutes until the second nuke is primed.

The bonds of war and terrifying firepower at your fingertips, World in Conflict is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com

eiii: Is that sarcasm? I'm not sure if I can laugh about it. :/
No, it's not sarcasm.

The-Business: "MULTIPLAYER NOTICE: Online servers will be shut down on the 6th of October 2015. After that day multiplayer will be possible only through LAN."

phaolo: Oh come on..
So they have now released it here.. to die.
Gog = Graveyard of Games?
Or maybe it's a kind of afterlife XD

Btw, how's the SP campaign?
I was real sad about this when I found out, the multiplayer is unique and the community was still around a few months back when I decided to hop back in.

That said, the SP campaign is long and spectacular - you should really get your money's worth with it alone. I'm not a huge RTS person, but this is easily among the best games I've ever played.

Can you please explain logic behind unbundling Heroes Chronicles?

Or the original Tomb Raider trilogy.
I wanted to buy Steam version months ago, but it seems the gams is broken for modern systems and you have to do a lot of work to run it. Is this version fixed?

Matruchus: Neither. Its not a RTS. Its a real time tactical game aka RTT. There is no base building or ressource gathering.
Does the game require a lot of micro management and is it rather click "heavy" or can you play it more relaxed?

Edit: And that sounds like the game sets up some time pressure, not like relaxed game play:

Are the missions time limited?

FabMan: Multiplayer shutting down soon and I heard good things about it, oh well, left it 9 years, I guess I can go without...
There's always GameRanger.

Es gab zwei deutsche Versionen. eine Zensierte und eine ab 18+. Atombomben, Napalm und Giftgas waren wohl etwas Zuviel für USK16... Darstellung im Spiel ist jedoch nicht anders außer der Farbe des Gases
Strange. It seems 3rd person or "spectator" view games normally receive a lower rating than first person view games, unless there's highly explicit depictions of violence, or otherwise sensitive content ( sex, drugs, WW2 themes etc. ).

Does the game actually feature explicit depictions of the effects of those weapons? I doubt they'd rate it 18+ or censor it just because it features certain weapon types. ( Then again, the decisions of the local rating agencies often appear quite random. )

Allows us to easily deliver the games via Galaxy. It also allows us to maintain and update/fix separate versions of games so if we have a fix or update for one in a series you don't have to re-download everything but just the one game that was updated. This goes for both offline and Galaxy versions.

Also, this allows us to add languages easier to games in a bundle since we can add the language to one game in a series/bundle without rebuilding everything. Another plus is that we can have the bonus items for each game under that one game so if we have "Might & Magic VI: Mandate of Heaven" we can put all of the Might & Magic VI bonuses under that one game instead of having all of the bonus goodies under one game all mixed up.

Well, if it's so I hope we'll see more games with Russian language in near future.

We'll have to navigate the stormy seas of Russian localization copyrights but we'll do what we can for RU :)

For what it's worth, World in Conflict is already supported by GameRanger, so it should be possible to play online even after the official servers are shut down.

None that i recall. The A-Bomb is called BFB, Napalm Strike is "Anti-Vegitationsschlag" and that chemical thing is teargas and white instead of green. That are the differences between the german 18+ and 16.

As someone who has never experienced this one via mp I'll make Konrad's words mine: the singleplayer campaign is one of the best ones I've ever played, followed closely by the R.U.S.E.'s one. So-much-fun.

R.U.S.E. is another game GOG really needs to get!
