There's priests & rogues too!

Wizards & Warriors is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The cult classic, Wizardry-like first-person RPG, returns. Wanna be an elephantoid Omphaaz, a feline Whiskah (night vision baby) or a boring human? Form a six-person team, then roam the land of Gael Cerran searching for an evil that's been going unchecked for too long and maybe lost treasure as well. Set those dungeons ablaze with magic and a mix of real-time and turn-based combat. Like old times.

Replace those files with the copies you have in the game's installation folder. That should fix it.

dtgreene: Can you go back to earlier hubs?

guar: Yes, once an area becomes available to you, it remains accessible.
Thank you, but why didn't I get notified of this reply? (Forum bug?)

destructa: Oh yeah, loved this game! My box came with 2 metal Ral Partha figures.
Which Ral Partha figures? *.*
So from what I gather of this thread, they just threw dgvoodoo on it and didn't bother to fix the mouse stuck or town avi issues?
Very disappointing release of an otherwise good game if that's the case.

trusteft: I never played this game. I can barely remember the title, but perhaps I am mistaken about that.
I assume the exploration is in real time and combat is in turn based?

What about the "world", are we talking about open world exploration or a more linear approach?

guar: There are 3 town hubs. You're free to explore the areas surrounding each hub, but you're locked to that hub until you advance the plot.
Yes I read that but it doesn't make sense. Why would the speed of the animation make it easier to dodge enemy attacks when it is turn based combat?

As for the hubs, do you mean that after you unlock the 3 hubs through story, the world becomes open world? Can you return to the hubs later one?

guar: text
For some reason my reply didn't post so I am removing the text to see if it will work.

Yes I read the post about combat but it doesn't make any sense. Why/how would the speed of attack animations make it easier to dodge enemy attacks, in turn based combat?

As for the open world/hubs, do you mean that after progressing the story and finish with these 3 hubs, the game opens up to an open world?
Can you return to the previously mentioned hubs?

Re: the attack animations - you're free to move during combat, but all attacks are taken in turns. So a giant spider, for example, attacks close and winds back before it strikes. If you step back a few paces before it strikes, it will miss. The same goes for most magic attacks. They're slow moving projectiles which are easy to sidestep.

And yes, you can return to any of the towns after you've located them. You could be at Cet's door and run all the way back to the first town, if you wanted.

I just...don't...get it.
What does the speed of the animation has anything to do with turn based combat and your ability to dodge the attack.
I'm not sure how to better explain this. In the time it takes for certain enemies to cycle through their attack animations, you can move out of range of the attack, thereby causing them to miss.

Honestly, if this isn't making sense to you, then try watching some videos of the gameplay.

Tintler: Did anybody tried it? I have this game(psychical copy) but you were not able to play this on Windows 10 without unofficial patches and dgVoodoo2.

Did they fix it completely. I mean I don't need to apply unofficial patch and had to use dgVoodoo2 right?
Is Actvision fix it by using source code or GoG applied those things unofficially sorry for the bad English.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain.
I'm wondering the same thing. How does the gog version compare to the disc version.
Will the GOG make any bug repairs on game - like that mouse bug report in one review on store page?

Yah, I'd like to know... not like GOG to sell a classic that wasn't fully functional... this is the kind of stuff I'd expect on Steam

What does real time TIME has to do with a TURN BASED battle? Are you saying that while the AI is taking it's turn you can move? That sounds like real time battle, or at best a hybrid. Not pure turn based combat. The whole idea of turn based combat is that you play, then the other player (AI) plays. Not you move and avoid the attacks the other player performs.
Anyway, thanks for your replies.
Great game, I can not get this version to run though. Tried various settings, lower resolution, compat, admin ect, but just get a never ending black screen I have to log out of computer.

Yes, its more like a hybrid. The fighting is turn based but you can move at any time.
