For many gamers, those were the first hot-seat games of childhood. Warlords series is back on our PCs thanks to Slitherine and GOG.COM. Check out turn-based strategy titles that preceded games like Heroes of Might and Magic.

As a leader of one of the fantasy factions, you have to conquer the land, vanquish your enemies while searching for magical treasures and beasts. Warlords I + II and Warlords III: Darklords Rising are games that still provide lots of fun in single and multiplayer and are quite a challenge even for experienced gamers.

Mr.Mumbles: So I'm assuming part 3 is the best as it seems like each game improves on the next? (The first two look a bit too antiquated for my tastes.) I have little to no knowledge about these games. Never even heard of them until I saw people talk about them here on the forum these past few years.
Though I never played the first Warlords game, I have to say that Warlords II: Deluxe Edition was a game I found to be surprisingly enjoyable in spite of its limited visuals. Warlords III probably is the superior title (and the high point of the series, in my eyes), but Warlords II: Deluxe Edition was the one that made me a fan for life.

(darn it, GOG, I was supposed to be working today ..!) o_O

Great release GOG, hoping for Warlords 4 soon! :)
GOG, I love you.

Another 90' classic release? Count me in! (especially since I didn't had opportunity to play in those)
Woohoo! :D
I've been hoping these would be released here for a long time now
That's what I meant when I was writing on the other sale thread that we need more good old games here. :) Thanks for bringing these games to GOG!
"Multiplayer is available via Hotseat and TCP/IP"
And that's how multiplayer should work for good old games. Great!

Now there's only one question, does Warlords III work with Wine?
OMG YES!!!!!

Darklords Rising is one of THE BEST Fantasy Strategy games of ALL TIME. This makes me very happy.

Artki: SQUEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES!
Also:
WEEEEEEEEEEEE!

*checks calendar* Is it Christmas yet? *hums Straight No Chaser's Christmas Cancan*

No, in all seriousness, WL2 was the first game of the series I dived into and it hooked me up almost instantly. Maybe I was somewhat inexperienced back then, but while my old PC/Disk allowed me to play Warlords, I used to. And all hail to GoG, the mighty he is, one of my favourite series is back. And, threads crossed (Szarik, cross your paws, will ya?), I'll be able to play it. Sadly Rage of Mages doesn't work, which is another game I used to love back then, when grass was greener and it tingled... well, it didn't already. :D

Anyway! Thanks, people of GoG, you are the avatars of Awesomeness(wess) and stay this way or be more awesomer, please. :)

P.S. Also, Cozy the General, and Peanut the Monk. *giggles*

I bought them when they came out.
War3 has the maps from War 1 and 2. I can't swear that they play exactly the same. Basically, the old campaigns/scenarios with the new engine.
My friends, co-workers and I used have so much fun playing Warlords and Warlords II together back in the day. I lost my disks years ago, so it's good to finally get these games back.
Has anyone tested these yet on a modern machine with Windows 10? They running well out of the box I'd assume? I'm going to buy them later today.

kud13: FINALLY

Where's Warlords 4, though?

oh, and insta-buy, ofc
If im not mistaken, Warlords 4 is a Ubisoft game. So perhaps its a different set of Copyrights then 1, 2 and 3. But yes, I'd love for Warlords 4 to get here too!

This makes me wonder whether we will see other classic SSG games at some point...

The game is bundled with a popular wrapper ddraw.dll and a configurator. seems to be fixed to work in windows 7/10 etc and cd music also works. The intro runs but if I am not wrong I remember this game having some kind of ingame little videos/fmv or so and I have not watched any of them but probably I have not tested the game enough. anybody knows about it?

Greetings

Veloxi: Not here, which is fiiiiine. ;)

So thank you so much for these. Darklords Rising is a masterpiece.

I have to ask though...where are the manuals? Or any extras at all really?
The manual for Warlords 3 is included in the game directory (Manual.pdf). Oddly enough it's not available as an extra. I didn't pick up Warlords 1+2 so I don't know about those.
I have never played them but my friends spent plenty of time playing these games...

...and purchased, downloading now, thx GOG
GREETINGS WARLORD
