Greetings, Hunters!

<span class="bold">Victor Vran</span>, an action filled next step in aRPG design, is available now for Windows and Mac - complete with GOG Galaxy Achievements, DRM-free, and 10% off for the first week!

In a genre that's seen immense highs and extended lows, it seems that we're always waiting for the secret formula for the perfect action RPG. Some say it's all about an overwhelming amount of loot, upgrades and treats galore. Others choose to experiment with new and innovative ways to connect their players, or to give them new types of control over making their character one of a kind. Victor Vran brings its own answers to the table.

It's a game that places movement and action first, truly putting the "action" in the aRPG, eliminating the boundaries of a traditional class system, and opting for freeform gear-based progression. A combat-oriented approach doesn't mean that Victor Vran is lacking in the other departments either - there's plenty of loot to collect and increasingly awesome weapons to find (including what looks an awful lot like a lightsaber) as well as innovative character progression. All that's there, however, is enhanced by an unprecedented movement system that will have you (and up to 4 of your co-op buddies) leaping, dodging and wallrunning. It's a game where survival is based on so much more than how hard you can hit.

Ok, guys. I bought the game today since I decided not to wait a year or two for Van Helsing to come here and all I can say is there is nothing missing from the game. Yes if you wan't to get the the free bonus code for cheats/boost at the beginning of the game activated you have to make an online account with Haemimont so much is true. But you don't need that to play the game and it does not affect the singleplayer game content whatsoever. To be fair I wasn't happy before and still aren't about the activation needed for the booster pack (which I did not activate) but im enjoying the game and I think its kind of a mix between Hammerwatch and Torchlight. Definitely a heavy grinder. Eitherway I do recommend the game.

Finally someone with some common sense and a pair of balls to delve into this issue. I was wondering if this will ever happen. GG to you! And enjoy the game. You deserve it more than anyone here.

CharlesGrey: You'd think that after some 800+ posts or so, everything meaningful that can be said on this issue(?) has already been said. I get the impression by now people are just repeating themselves ( or others ) and there's not much point in continuing this discussion.

Just buy the game, or don't, folks -- your choice. Maybe even contact the developer, if it really bothers you that much and if you have a suggestion how they could handle this better. ( Just make sure you're polite and reasonable about it, if at all possible. And guys, stop spamming the game's product page here on GOG. I think it's fair to inform others about the potential DRM issues, but there's no need for a dozen such "reviews", nor is it fair to keep downrating the entire game based on it, especially if you haven't even tried it. Geez. )

The funny thing is, if and when I buy a copy of the game, I wouldn't even want to use that special "bonus". As I understand, it's basically just a cheat anyway, to make things a little easier at the start.
I'm pretty much on the same page, but this is the internet. I learned that there are people who just don't know and don't want better, or don't have anything better to do.

HijacK: I think a bit of both? This an the constant whining and complaining when people haven't even played, let alone buy the game, kinda fatigued any decent argument.

I think people who want the game will buy it irregardless of the "online cheat code". The game itself is still DRM-free, so all is good there. It is just the way GOG presented the item in the news you would think the code was also DRM-free, just built into the game like an authentication code.
It does sound a little like the cheat code is there because they want to get you online, maybe to get real figures for the games sales to play ratio.
So should I buy the game I would too just ignore it. Just like those games that say preorder and get special items X,Y,Z & 10000032. If you are not interested in the game you wont buy it anyway. For most we can live without them if we are only mildly interested in the game, even if we would like to have them too.

The thing is (and I realise I have spent ~2 days watching a semi-wreck) GOG does wobble and people including me want to keep them as we in vision their business plan as long as it possible. So every time they wobble we make some noise. It might not be dignified, but if Twitter has taught us nothing else it is complaining en mass will get any corporations attention.

Given that this game is already number 5 on the top selling list and its discount is tiny. The developers made a game people want and GOG did the right thing for both businesses and customers in bringing the game here for people to buy.
I would hope the live chat goes well as the developers tried doing something nice for GOG customers, and although it is against GOG's principles in the way it is delivered, I can choose to see the business decision from the developers point of view, and GOG really wanting to do something special too. I hope it was an honest attempt to just offer up a little special gift without any malice.
Yet I feel you should never trust bankers, business heads or clowns. They all live in fantasy worlds.

Scorpionscythe: Not sure what is so funny or why the other person assumes I am yelling. I don't care either way about it having drm as I just won't buy it. Seems like the ones yelling are the ones assuming everyone else is.

HijacK: I didn't say jack about yelling and I don't care one bit what you do. Get your ego straight, mate.
I didn't say you. I said the other guy referring to the 'other guy'. Get your reading straight.

I already got hope destiny card (level 1 card) and diamond demon power without the cheat. As much as I can see besides the med kit which is on legendary level everything is more less level one in the booster pack so its basically just a starters pack.

Yes, because quoting me when you were talking about the other guy makes total sense. Get both your reading comprehension and logic fixed.

What DRM?
The cheat is not DRM

I thought you weren't talking about me. Interesting. Logic is still broken for you. As for DRM, read above or don't. Regardless, enjoy your bubble while I enjoy my DRM-free game.

I was waiting for someone dependable to buy the game. Glad to see it is you.

Could you please check whether you can embark on any of the following "treasure hunts":

3RW-YCM-38N
4WV-FCG-NHH
K7R-FKG-DGU

Supposedly, you do so via "Options > Redeem key".

I was going to wish we could have a release do over:

- drop the exclusive GOG bonus if it really is just a marketing ploy, or add it in DRM-free if it really could be useful or desirable to gamers as an option.

- have the developer state that the online and offline single-player gameplay is exactly the same.

- have GOG start a new release thread for the game...

Its not possible to embark on treasure hunts in single player since you need a multiplayer account so that you can activate the codes. Basically when I try to reedem the codes it says - You need to go online to reedem a Treasure key. When I press on online it demands from me to make an online account (email + serial key needed). That's basically it. As much as I read on steam these treasure hunts are a multiplayer feature.

Thank you. That's what I expected.

That's not what I have read. AFAIU, they can be readily incorporated into a single player game, if one is willing to go online. AFAIU, they are simple side quests (e.g. go to place, kill monsters, get loot) that do not add to the plot.

I think of them as free micro-add-ons (I am trying to avoid a three-letter acronym beginning with D, ending with C, with L in the middle) that are gradually released by the developer through an online server, in an obvious attempt to tie players to its servers.

P.S. I believe it is just a matter of time until they use the same mechanism to add a "double helix triple backspin stab to the face".
