Greetings, Hunters!

<span class="bold">Victor Vran</span>, an action filled next step in aRPG design, is available now for Windows and Mac - complete with GOG Galaxy Achievements, DRM-free, and 10% off for the first week!

In a genre that's seen immense highs and extended lows, it seems that we're always waiting for the secret formula for the perfect action RPG. Some say it's all about an overwhelming amount of loot, upgrades and treats galore. Others choose to experiment with new and innovative ways to connect their players, or to give them new types of control over making their character one of a kind. Victor Vran brings its own answers to the table.

It's a game that places movement and action first, truly putting the "action" in the aRPG, eliminating the boundaries of a traditional class system, and opting for freeform gear-based progression. A combat-oriented approach doesn't mean that Victor Vran is lacking in the other departments either - there's plenty of loot to collect and increasingly awesome weapons to find (including what looks an awful lot like a lightsaber) as well as innovative character progression. All that's there, however, is enhanced by an unprecedented movement system that will have you (and up to 4 of your co-op buddies) leaping, dodging and wallrunning. It's a game where survival is based on so much more than how hard you can hit.

The fuck? How did this get through with DRM? Absolutely not buying it until that's fixed.

Gilozard: When a DRM-free store is specifically advertising a feature, and then it turns out that feature requires online DRM, many users will rightfully get angry.
GOG keeps pulling this crap lately, and it's not OK. If I was willing to put up with online DRM, I'd just buy games from Steam.

DeathDiciple: DRM check for optional single player content is still a DRM check. I want DRM free game store to sell DRM-free games, not add GOG specific DRM checks on any content. Take your SJW namecalling back to twitter shtifests and out of my face, I'm not a SJW and never will be.
You both state the obvious, and yet some want to argue...

I must be one of those small, innocent trial balloons they will release here and there untill total acceptance.
It was written all over GogGalaxy since the beginning.
What saddens me is not the eventual gog change in their DRM politics, because at one point it may become a fight they can't fight anymore, but the jubilant conformism of some users.
Revolting.

Hm, there is some DRM check in the game??

justMaku: You go right ahead and do that.

BTW, removed linux version? What's that all about? Did I miss a bit of this whole deal?
avatar
DeathDiciple: There was a linux version advertised until yesterday, and Steam still has win/mac/linux. Somehow, we have mac as (coming soon) now and linux isn't mentioned anywhere, even tho it's to run fine on linux on Steam. I don't know what it's about, we're simply told to wait for QA and ask then, I just know that as of now, we're missing out on Linux version. <a href="http://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_victor_vran_92633/post74" class="link_arrow"></a></div> See [url=http://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_victor_vran_92633/post63]my post above.
I have to say, I really appreciate the devs replying so quickly to my question, and I'm looking forward to getting the game on gog once they bring the Linux version here.

justMaku: Alright, Internet warrior of argument. Just don't use the OPTIONAL extra content. K? K. Done. Your problem is now solved, we can all go home and let this thread slowly rot like many other release threads like it.

BTW, the game's awesome. You're missing out.

How exactly do you expect this stuff to work without some sort of authentication feature? You think the dev is going to go out of their way to actually code all this extra stuff in the game and then make a special GoG build that includes it? That's not realistic.

LOL I cannot trust GOG anymore... A DRM on a game on gog, that suck

Why do you need an auth feature for a single player game?

If it's not realistic to remove all of the online authentication for single player content, then they shouldn't sell it here.

shmerl: Why do you need an auth feature for a single player game?
Because the game includes content that is not included with the base game. It's basically free DLC. You have to log into to gog when you buy DLC, why is this any different?

Because to re-install the content or back it up, you have to authenticate. You also can't re-download the content.

I do not want this game on gog if it has DRM.
They could do a code that always work, without having to log in if they wanted to make a game drm-free.

If I can not trust gog, might as well buy on steam (not this game of course).

So every DLC gog releases should come with DRM on it now instead of standalone installer? How did they release every other DLC as download not a forced online check whenever you want to activate it?

Fine but then don't bitch and whine that GoG doesn't get exclusives that places like Steam gets then. You want GoG to be like Steam but expect devs to jump through a millions hoops in the process. It's not going to happen.

It's funny how not long ago GOG was laughing and condemning Steam and other stores when now pulling out exactly the same unfair and cheap marketing practises. Shame on you guys. Is that what Galaxy is for , to slowly put us here into DRM age?

No dev is going to do this when they are selling this game at other distributors, this isn't a GoG exclusive game. They are not going to make a special build for GoG, which is basically what your asking.
