There will be blood. Delicious blood.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at Patches Scrolls.

shmerl: I don't think so. GOG credit Wesp5 in the announcement.

Smannesman: Yes for the patch, not the 'legacy' mode.
GOG should put all that into the game card. Wesp5 fully deserves it.

0Grapher: But how is the original unmodified if widescreen resolutions work and there is no DRM?
I get your point now, but I'm afraid I can't answer it. You're right, there seems to be at least a little fix in the vanilla version as well.
I assume to support widescreen resolutions, there must be a binary patch to the original. So it's not 100% original really. But the rest of the patches already touch scripts, resources and such.

snowkatt: id rather have a lossy version then no version at all
So, you basically hate the lossless versions so much that you'd prefer having a lossless version and losing access to it to ever getting a lossless version.
You seem to care very little about lossless audio. :P

Smannesman: So they didn't even do that themselves?

Actually, we already had a version of the game where all you would have is the original executable without Wesp's patch in case a) we couldn't come to an agreement with Wesp5 and patches-scrolls and b) we wanted to have the original version in case people wanted to use other mods that may have been incompatible with Wesp5's patch.

I see. But now you only have one after Wesp5's patching, right?

shmerl: I agree, I surely use the lossy one. I'm just saying that it's still a pity that OST is not included (i.e. lossless).

avatar
snowkatt: yes
avatar
shmerl: Is that just a guess, or there is some indication of it?

haydenaurion: As far as I can tell, you only have to set resolution in the in-game options playing the unofficial patched version in the default gog install. The FOV and HUD seem normal to me and don't seem to require console commands to correct. At least I think that's the case.
avatar
shmerl: I usually set fov to 90. By default it's 75.
A bit different in this release with this version of the patch. The default FOV according to command console is "0" and raising the number actually reduced the FOV for some odd reason.

All vanilla files are in the build as well if someone needs them.

Is that supposed to mean that Thiev is superior to GOG's Thievin' Bastard?
