There will be blood. Delicious blood.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at Patches Scrolls.

VanishedOne: Since https://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_vampirer_the_masquerade_bloodlines_1ab3d/post216 mentioned 'the censored UK version of the game' I checked the BBFC database: 'All known versions of this work passed uncut.'
Good thinking, now that's what I call a reliable source. :)
However, it's always slightly possible, albeit unlikely, that the version submitted might have been cut in advance.

It does start to sound like all the rumours and consequent confusion simply stem from the massive amount of bugs and glitches that appeared in the original release.

amurgaming: Does this version support widescreen resolutions?
avatar
MBiL_248: Yes. :)
Could you elaborate, please? Do we have to set the resolution as a comment for the exe file or did GOG create a launcher? What about the stretched HUD and the FOV that you normally have to reset?

As far as I can tell, you only have to set resolution in the in-game options playing the unofficial patched version in the default gog install. The FOV and HUD seem normal to me and don't seem to require console commands to correct. At least I think that's the case.

You can easily select the proper resolution in the game's options menu. Some non 3D elements seems to be stretched (especially the loading screens), but the HUD fits very well and I assume the 3rd party patch did a good work to improve the comptability. I've seen far worser cases (VTM: Redemption, for example). FOV seems to be a liitle bit cropped on top and bottom, it remembers me in a way on the first BioShock, but the windows shows all relevant information (in my opinion).

Edit: I've tried the unpatched Legacy version as well and you can select all widescreen resolutions there, too.

Wow. Has it been that easy for a long time? I remember the original hassle so well that I can't say for sure if the patch fixed the resolution or not.

P1na: BTW, it's a pity the OST isn't included. More for Deb's night than for the actual songs.
avatar
shmerl: Is Deb from the Kindred by the way?
avatar
snowkatt: the soundtracks are nothing more then mp3's hiding in the installed games folder
you can fish them out rename them and instant ost
avatar
shmerl: Those are lossy however.
yes and ?

id rather have a lossy version then no version at all

What about the inventory? That's what I was mainly referring to.

I don't understand it.

I agree, I surely use the lossy one. I'm just saying that it's still a pity that OST is not included (i.e. lossless).

Is that just a guess, or there is some indication of it?

I usually set fov to 90. By default it's 75.

#1: Inventory is not stretched. :)

#2: GOG's installer provides you with two game versions: the patched standard version and the unmodified original version, called "legacy".

That's the way Wesp5's patches work since 9.x. Before there was no option of the unmodified original.

Interesting, I've thought the vanilla version would be GOG's special addition. Now, that's a very impressive piece of work from Wesp5, I would say the community owes him a lot of gratitude.

So they didn't even do that themselves?

That is ridiculously great.

I did understand what you said but I don't understand how that's possible.

But how is the original unmodified if widescreen resolutions work and there is no DRM?

I don't think so. GOG credit Wesp5 in the announcement.

Yes for the patch, not the 'legacy' mode.
