There will be blood. Delicious blood.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at Patches Scrolls.

outstarwalker: Also, let me share a starter guide to clans and what they offer in the game.

1. Brujah - can be compared to "warrior" type of RPG characters - nice in fights and pretty well-rounded. Good choice if you want to side with Anarchs (anti-vampire government vampires that aren't as bloodthirsty and evil as Sabbath, they just want the freedom), although it doesn't exactly give you more options in interacting with other vampires.

+ Battle-focused disciplines helpful with many opponents.
- Keep that blood high, -2 on all frenzy checks means your character can start killing random people.
- No additional content.

2. Gangrel - loners, nature-lovers. They stink a little, but are still enjoyable pals.

+ Awesome Animalism discipline with beautiful effects involving animals.
- You have to focus on feeding often, as it's way easier to go frenzy.
- No additional content.

3. Malkavian - madness, fortune-telling and coolest outfits in game.

+ They are insanely powerful: Dementation + Domination makes them own every place.
+ Dementation makes them the most hilarious clan to play. You will talk with objects and make people think you're a turtle.
+ Incredibly interesting because of their weird dialogues and interactions.
- IMPORTANT: they can spoil you the game if you play it for the first time. Whispers in your head tell you if someone lies or not, interacting with some characters may cause your Malk to refer to popculture/mythology to show you true image of someone you talk to.
- Best played on second playthrough - this way you can truely understand what they talk about and see a lot of details in game playing a Malk add.
- It's easy to offend someone with their crazy talk and you won't even guess. Especially hard to play if your English is not great.

4. Ventrue - politicians, managers, nobilities. While being hated by most of the Vampire players for being snobs, they are pretty enjoyable to play.

+ Domination is a great, OP discipline with Suicide/Mass Suicide cleaning all humans out of your way.
+ They can also use Domination in dialogues, leading to some small additional scenes and one easter egg.
+ Not confirmed, but I believe it's easier to unlock LaCroix apartment when playing Ventrue. And you want that apartment.
- You can't feed on bums and rats, making it harder to get blood in game.

5.. Toreador - artists, lovers of beauty. Their curse can make them fall in love with sunrise and die this way!

+ Presence discipline available in dialogues. It's easier to make people like you or flirt with you.
- Very bad choice for roleplaying someone evil - humanity losses are doubled.
- Have to focus on combat stats for help in battles, as your disciplines won't save you.
- No additional content.

6. Nosferatu - your curse caused severe deformities. You look like a monster.

+ Awesome Animalism + Obfuscate + Potence set of disciplines - you can juggle with ways how to do quests or kill people easily.
+ Additional apartment available later in game.
+ Tons of extra dialogues and content.
+ Additional blood from rats and no chance to vomit bum's blood.
- You have to hide.
- You have to use sewers more.
- You lose some content and dlalogues, as you can't interact with humans openly.

7. Tremere - blood mages originating from group of humans who drank the blood of powerful vampire. Not trusted by other clans, they have a strict hierarchy and loyalty within their own clan.

+ The most OP clan in game. You destroy everything on your way
+ Additional apartment available
+ The only clan with their own working chantry in game and leader being an enjoyable person.
+ Maybe one person mentions you're not trustworthy - you can easily roleplay with either persuasion or even sex-appeal when you're Tremere.
- Can be too easy to play, no battle is a problem for Tremere.

That's all folks, hope I helped.
I played this game numerous times, so if you want to see a full gameplay with every quest done in form of let's play, let me plug in my Nosferatu run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSOreDqUkqY

Thanks!
Very helpful, thanks!

outstarwalker:
Nice overview!

Though Tremere was clearly the only option for me, RP-wise, I mean, vampire mages! No idea how powerful they were at first, found out over the course of the game, but that's a big bonus too, since I play for story and atmosphere, not for a challenge, usually difficulty just frustrates me or makes me give up for good, and that'd sure have been a pity for this one.

They did almost make a different game for Malks, didn't they (and ah, "daughter of Janus")? And parts for Nosferatu too.

shmerl: Just make a rule not to buy on Steam. Ever. Problem solved ;)
Lots of eggs, one basket... you know. I have only about half as many games on Steam, as I prefer to support GOG. But sometimes, it's inevitable.

^^ This was posted around two weeks ago.

There are some threads you need to watch closely on here (like this one : https://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_that_are_unofficially_confirmed_for_release_in_the_future_part_2/post3280 )

For example, I will just say that you shouldn't buy oblivion or fallout new vegas on steam if you refrained till now. :P
Haven't refrained unfortunately, Bethesda came over a week or so after I bought the majority of their catalogue on a Steam sale.

These threads only prove my point of GOG's woefully inadequate customer communication. We don't need the waste of space that is pure-breed marketer who can't speak normally & uses 9 buzzwords to 1 normal word, but at least SOMETHING.
About time! I've got a physical copy that works just fine, but I'll wishlist this for when it goes on a reasonable sale.

Hunter65536: I knew Nosferatu can't reveal themselves to people given their deformed appearance but I thought they'd have temporary form changing abilities to look a bit better to accept quests and talk to NPCs. I realized my assumption was false after watching outstarwalkers let's play, so how do they take on quests from someone like the bail bondsman in Santa Monica? If they can't then doesn't it mean they're losing out on experience points?
Most important human questgivers or merchants tend to think you're either a body-modification enthusiast (Kilpatrick) or an actor from horror show with fresh make-up on (Trip from Pawnshop). I'm not sure yet if you lose some quests, but the ones in Santa Monica are available. What you can't do is get money from the guy next to Mercurio's apartment or blood from Blood Dolls in Asylum.

Lemon_Curry: Though I would greatly appreciate it if you could make sure we got the uncensored version/intro instead (info thanks to MBiL_248).

Grargar: Uncensored intro or glitch? You be the judge:

And apparently the intro decapitation was removed with the official 1.2 patch even in the US version, anyway.
Since https://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_vampirer_the_masquerade_bloodlines_1ab3d/post216 mentioned 'the censored UK version of the game' I checked the BBFC database: 'All known versions of this work passed uncut.'

No idea which versions are referred to in https://www.gog.com/forum/general/release_vampirer_the_masquerade_bloodlines_1ab3d/post391

So it sounds like the "censorship" is really just a glitch that was never fully fixed?
Post edited April 26, 2016 by haydenaurion
For those of you who want to play clans with no additional content (Toreador, Brujah, Gangrel) but get bigger insight on the clan, I can recommend Clan Quest Mod. It might be buggy and it's made by mod community without help of Troika, so watch out for bad voice acting.

Also, installing Plus patch content from Patches Scrolls gives you more insight on Sabbat - if I remember correctly, you actually meet Lasombra in one of the added locations. What's more, you can also get a special Sabbat ending. It's not top-notch, but worth mentioning.

Seems to be the case. The decapitation scene looks pretty weird.
out of curiosity, I see trademark icon next to "Vampire". Can the "Vampire" name really be registered?

I assumed Outstar would break her silence for this game.

P1na: BTW, it's a pity the OST isn't included. More for Deb's night than for the actual songs.
Is Deb from the Kindred by the way?

snowkatt: the soundtracks are nothing more then mp3's hiding in the installed games folder
you can fish them out rename them and instant ost
Those are lossy however.
