There will be blood. Delicious blood.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at Patches Scrolls.

NuffCatnip: This has probably been asked a couple dozen times already, but is the "complete" unofficial patch installed (it says unofficail patch basic in the menu) or do I have to overwrite the files with the ones from patches-scrolls.de ?
avatar
JudasIscariot: It's the BASIC "just the fixes" patch. For additional content, please visit patches-scrolls :)
Ah, thanks a bunch!

The only question left is Malkavian or Nosferatu (or Gangrel) for the "first" playthrough, hmmm....

Nosferatu is definitely hard mode and Malkavian should be savored and, thus, saved for later :)

If you never played the game before, go with Gangrel. The Malkavian has unique dialogue which is very confusing if you don't know the story or characters, and the Nosferatu plays very differently than all other clans because you have to stick to the sewers for the entire game (or until you get Obfuscate high enough) and you can't blend in with humans as easily as the other clans. YMMV, of course, but this is what I would recommend for a new player. :)
DAFUQ!!!!

Did I miss the release due to the stupid conference? I should quit my job. But then I wouldn't be able to instabuy...

Well, 20 hours late but I'll buy now. Congrats, GOG!

Go Toreador if you want a chatty cathy character, Ventrue if you are a true patrician :D

Yeah they are definitely the hardest clan, plus I never finished my Nosferatu character because at some point I was really starting to miss interaction with other characters. :)

Malkavian is my favourite clan, but as you said I think I´ll save them for later (my last playthrough was quite some time ago, I´d be choosing "wrong" answers all the time)

Yeah, I agree. My last playthrough was quite some time ago and choosing "wrong" answers with a Malkavian is pretty easy.
Yeah, Nosferatu play very different from the rest, I think I´ll go with a melee Gangrel to get back into the game. :)

Aren´t those the snooty guys? I don´t remember. :)

Toreador = hedonist artsy fartsy types.

Ventrue = bluebloods, snooty, very rich

Toreador are the "artsy" clan and Ventrue are the "business-y" clan, if you go by stereotypes. :D Personally, my favourite will always be Tremere, because they are the "mage-y" clan, and Thaumaturgy is just my favourite discipline in the P&P version of the game. In Bloodlines it's even more powerful, as if that was necessary...

Oh, got them mixed up. :)
BTW, it's a pity the OST isn't included. More for Deb's night than for the actual songs.

Might try them out after the melee playthrough. :)
Running around as a powerful "mage" sounds nice. :D

nightcraw1er.488: I haven't played it in a while, but never had any problems, install game, install patch, maybe install one of the big mods, click game play.
avatar
JMich: See the thread. Quite a few people cannot get the game to install on anything later than XP.
And yes, if it would take me 2+ hours to get the game in a playable state, I would consider spending £10 to get someone else to do it for me. My 2 hours are worth more than £10, not sure if yours ain't.
It's not difficult to run the CD version of Bloodlines on Windows 7 even without the unofficial patch.

But I agree with the gist of your point: GOG installer > hours of research.
Hmmm what's the incentive to buy that old game (no matter how great) for this price ?

Or for that matter what is activisions justification for this Price ?

For that price? I wouldn't buy it, unless I wanted to actively support the publisher (Activision) which I do not really want to.

In some months during the next 50% sale for half the price? I plan to buy it instantly because it features a lot of fun and gameplay for the low price then.

GOG, great classic. Fantastic as always.

Fantastic news...
I just got it and installing.. :)
