There will be blood. Delicious blood.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at Patches Scrolls.

Dalthnock: It could happen, I'm at least as special as all those hobos that the government is spying on, man!

shmerl: Just make a rule not to buy on Steam. Ever. Problem solved ;)
Pretty much. It has certainly worked for me. XD

Admittedly, I do have an extraordinary amount of patience. But still, at least so far, GOG has managed to reward my patience and most of the titles that I wanted to see on the service have eventually arrived. In the mean time, there's plenty of games to occupy one's time.

On an unrelated note, am I the only one who's (no pun intended) noted the hilarity of a Source engine game being on GOG? :P

Not really, we already had Consortium.

nightcraw1er.488: I haven't played it in a while, but never had any problems, install game, install patch, maybe install one of the big mods, click game play.
avatar
JMich: See the thread. Quite a few people cannot get the game to install on anything later than XP.
And yes, if it would take me 2+ hours to get the game in a playable state, I would consider spending £10 to get someone else to do it for me. My 2 hours are worth more than £10, not sure if yours ain't.
Well, aside from me not knowing that the Greek people were swimming in money, there are two other reasons to consider:
- Having someone else do it for you means you are not learning anything. I learnt more about computers and setups getting things running than I ever did at school.
- Secondly, if you accept the value on this, then the next release will be more expensive - you must have noticed there has been a steady rise in prices at each release. As above, I am sure you guys have plenty of money to throw around, but for me, paying 3 times what I can get it for elsewhere is a big deal.
Also, to note, your time is only as valuable as what someone will pay you for it.

paladin181: Instabought again. People who are complaining about the price? why? It's worth $20 easily. One of the best games ever made.
My thoughts exactly.

Smannesman: What if you want to play the original game, unmodded?
Not sure if someone already answered your question: Judas stated that the vanilla game is included.

shmerl: I just run the installer for Bloodlines using Wine 1.9.8 from PlayOnLinux. Progress bar isn't showing up during installation. In fact it's stuck on the first screen with path selection, but in the end, installation succeeds.
avatar
JudasIscariot: Don't know then. Installer works for me as it always does: progress bar moves to a certain point and and then it finishes :) Nvidia 364.19 drivers and all :)

Try a non-PoL version perhaps? :)
I have a curiosity about it , if Wesp5 release a new version of UP , GOG will update main installers ? :D
avatar
NuffCatnip: I think they only sell the uncensored version of the game.
avatar
JudasIscariot: Unofficial Patch 9.5 only works with the English version for now anyways. That being said, we'll make sure to get the missing languages out to all but we had to make sure that the game worked as expected before releasing it :)
avatar
MBiL_248: I've bought the game with my German account and the intro is the censored version as known from UK's and German versions. Do you have different versions for different countries?
avatar
JudasIscariot: We only have an English version of the game atm.
And this settles it.

Well, yes.

adaliabooks: So.... what's all the fuss about?

I have to say I'd never actually heard of this game before coming to GoG, but I've heard a hell of a lot about it since then.

What kind of RPG is it? What's the closest comparison to another game?

Not sure whether to add to my wishlist or not (certainly not picking it up yet at that price)

Hunter65536: Me neither until six months ago, I've got it recently during Activision sale on steam and I'd say this is a must have if you even remotely like RPGs. I think it might be discounted in the next sale so I'd suggest to wait for but definitely get it during sale.

This game is mainly praised for excellent clan implementation, for eg. a toreador clan is more social vampire as opposed to Nosferatu who are deformed and shouldn't reveal themselves to humans and there's malkavian who get a side of insanity along with their vampirism so even their dialogue is pretty weird, even the NPC's you speak to observe your strange way of talking. Due to that each clan choice plays a bit differently than the other so there's a high replay value. Also you get experience points for completing quests rather than killing enemies and sometimes you'd get more experience points if go a particular way about the quest.
Let me just put it like this: You like Deus ex? You like early 2000s vampires(blade movie etc.) ? Well....

JudasIscariot: Well, yes.
It will be awesome then :) Thanks .
That price is a tad high when being broke but I'll make sure to get this next month!
Thanks GoG!
Fuckin' hell YAAAS! I can now add this game to my de-steamed pile and un-install it from my steam library!
Thanks GOG!

$20 is a bit high for those who beat the ever livin' shit out of this masterpiece, but for the newcomers...Worth. every. single. penny!

This has probably been asked a couple dozen times already, but is the "complete" unofficial patch installed (it says unofficail patch basic in the menu) or do I have to overwrite the files with the ones from patches-scrolls.de ?

It's the BASIC "just the fixes" patch. For additional content, please visit patches-scrolls :)

I was the one that originally asked the question and got the answer...
