There will be blood. Delicious blood.

Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the timeless RPG masterpiece that has sucked many a gamer's time, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Intoxicating. Macabre. Vital. These are both traits of blood and of Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, the RPG that forever changed expectations on how the creatures of the night should be depicted in videogames. Was it the ridiculous replayability? The versatility of our vampiric abilities? The gripping visual and sound design? Perhaps the memorable NPCs and stellar writing. One thing is for certain: much like the daunting Antediluvians, this is a game whose allure only grows stronger with time. No point in resisting it any longer.

Sink your teeth into the definitive bloodsucking experience that is Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Note: This version includes third-party technical fixes, courtesy of Wesp5. The full unofficial patch, which also includes additional content, can be found over at Patches Scrolls.

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Yes, it does, the Source engine. Valve forced Troika to hold up releasing Bloodlines, so HL2 could be released first. One of the major reasons Bloodlines didn't do well on sales numbers initially, leading also to the closure of Troika games, later.
It was more than that. All those month they had the game on hold, they couldn't work on it, nor fix it. Meanwhile, Valve worked and fixed their engine, so Bloodlines was released with a way older version of the Source engine, without all the bug fixing and improvements Valve did for it all those months.

Fixed for accuracy.

Venita: Yes and no - playing first as a Malk and then as someone with normal dialogue can lead to some cool "OHH, SO THAT'S WHAT IT MEANT" moments. :)

j0ekerr: What? What isn't normal about spider-monkey chocolate balls, twisted nipple crocanti?
But for me, it was Tuesday.
Nice. Been waiting for this one but think I'll wait a while longer for a sale.. 20 bucks for this game is asking too much, I think. And it still needs fan patches to make it more playable/less buggy, that's for sure.

Still glad they finally brought it here, though.
Great to have it here. Been waiting for a while to replace my physical copy. That said I generally don't want to pay that price to replace a copy of a game I have so I'll wait until the next sale. I think I have a folder for patches for that game on my server, wonder if they are some of the same that Wesp5 came up with.

--- edit no looking at the date of Wesp5 patch posting those would be much more recent (I'm at work but I don't recall touching the game for years so mine would be old community patches). I might grab some while I wait to afford the GOG version.

Smannesman: What if you want to play the original game, unmodded?
avatar
Venita: There's an option to play that as well, we called it "Legacy". Just choose that and enjoy your vanilla game :)
Wow; you're supplying both the unmodded 1.2 and Wesp 9.5 Basic versions of the game?
AWESOME!!! :)

recent unofficial patches (from 9.0+ I believe) support that by default;
Thank you GOG team! :D I have been waiting years for it to get here, it is truly a classic.
FANTASTIC addition!

FANTASTIC addiction! There, corrected!

OLE!
Well, this is a great piece of news to wake up to. I know what I'm buying when I get home. [This post has been heavily thought out to omit the large volume of excitement swearing from my original.]
WHEEEEE! WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP!

Quite expensive for such an old game, but this game (after all the bugfixes it got) is still worth every cent!

Yeah, there were quite a lot of additions in the latest patches. One of them even had a whole new level.
