Really enjoyed the demo, looks to be a great game. Is it on any other actual DRM free store?

Are there any actual DRM free stores left?

Anyway, I enjoyed the demo very much, except for the at times crass humour, so I'll have to pass on this game.

lostwolfe: is there hidden drm that we need to be aware of?

Exsurgent: Unfortunately, you won't be able to play the game without the original disc case, since the back of the case shows you a codec frequency you have to... wait, I think I got this mixed up...
i chuckled. :)

Exsurgent: Seriously though, I was able to install and start the game without an active internet connection. I realize you probably only brought this up in order to put pressure on GOG for the Hitman release, but I'm leaving this info here in case anyone reads that comment and genuinely holds off buying the game because they're worried the GOG version might feature DRM:

So far, I haven't noticed any DRM and given the history of this developer, I have no reason to assume that the game does feature DRM of any kind. If I run afoul of anything down the line, I'll add it to this post.
awesome. much appreciated. thank you for taking the time to document what you found.

[and absolutely. i'm pretty sure that MOST developers on gog are not likely to do what the hitman folks did. my feelings are that MOST developers act in good faith and DO want to go the drm free route where possible. i'm not trying to rain on their parade, specifically.]

lostwolfe: checking for everyone else:

is there hidden drm that we need to be aware of?

please let us know - and preferably on the first page of this topic so that people don't have to go searching high and low for the answer to the question.

thank you.

this one has me absolutely intrigued. :)
You have posted the same copy paste in the Warp Frontier topic. It is closer to spamming than to a legit search for information

i guess i /could/ keep asking the question and make it specifically different for each thread, but when all that's really needed is one line to ascertain what's actually going on for that game, it seems a little silly to change the wording TOO much.

and for what it's worth, i only really plan to do one post in each thread [which are usually several hours apart] - if people are watching different threads, they'll see the different posts.

if they're not, it's just one post.

i genuinely think - given the situation at hand - that it's important that potential customers be informed of the status of each game, since i can VIRTUALLY guarantee that gog will not offer up that information until they are pushed/shoved in that direction. [and i can almost guarantee that the push will not come from users. gog doesn't seem to care too much about what we think. instead, i feel, if a label DOES end up on games a) it'll be pretty vague and b) it'll be forced on gog through some sort of law entity.]

if gog thinks that's spam, gog is welcome to swing on by and moderate me [which, i figure, they're going to eventually do.]

but - from my perspective and given that this is a now-necessary question that should /probably/ be answered within the first page of a game's news post, i don't specifically feel it is spam.
Hooray!

Great to see the game is finally being released.
After the "publishing odyssee" :) I was afraid that it wouldn't show up here - but it did!
And I am happy for Fran Games, too, that the game finally sees the light of day.

I know, with the Hitman palooza going on the background there might be people reluctant to buying games. But purchasing this game also supports the developer. And I really think this one deserves to be supported.

The demo was great and made me laugh a lot. This is THE release I have been waiting for for almost an entire year. So, it's an instant-buy for me.
From the scrrenshots and Trailer and some of the description
the game sounds like a cross between Metal Gear solid and cannon fodder and a dash of Rush'n Attack
Gonna wishlist it

The game should be great but I'll wait for an alternative drm free version. Not sure why don't publish it on humble bundle or the official website like Unepic, or itch (there is even a demo there so it's not so strange). Not sure if the epic store version is drm free, if it is I'll buy it there. Of course not even a euro cent will go on gog.

I don't see it as spam, since this has become a very pertinent question — ever since last thursday.

Please continue asking it lostwolfe; the answer interests me. If you decide not to ask it in future releases I'll probably do it myself. Either way it is important that Gog users feel confident that there's no DRM in their purchases, which now isn't a given anymore just from being here.

As for the game itself the first five posts ITT got me interested enough that I consider it wishlisted.
Anyone played much of it yet?

How is the game structured? Does it have any metroidvania qualities (like the developer's other games) or is it more linearly mission based like the original games in the series it's based on?
I was looking forward to UnMetal, since the demo was lots of fun, but with Unsighted releasing tomorrow I don't know if I should wait for that one, as I really want to support those devs, or just get UnMetal right now and Unsighted later on...

Unsighted does have the dreaded stamina bar, and I am getting tired of games that have Souls-like mechanics (just give Souls-likes a break, already, please, don't we have enough of those, right now?).

Oh, well, I guess I'll wait one more day and compare prices. And I still need to finish Eastward, too, so there's that.

I haven't had a lot of time to play the game yet, but I reached chapter 2 yesterday (the chapter directly following the area featured in the demo) and it looks like I can't go back to the chapter 1 area. At least not the way I came. I also don't remember seeing anything in chapter 1 that suggested to me that I need to return with a new ability at some point (like in a metroidvania).

So I would hazard a guess (!) that the game is structured into a linear sequence of chapters, each of which consists of a fairly non-linear hub area.

LifeLover: Demo of Unmetal was great, I hope all game - from beginning till end - will be funny, good balanced (not only fun moments, but ALSO shooting and another activities / interactions), and with more MEMS!

Yes, you have sneaking, decisions, a bit of point and click, a bit of RPG, a great and sometimes surprising story and shooting - including bosses. The game is a true genre mix and has something for most of us imo.

ssling: I take it's MGS parody mostly? Will you lose a lot without knowing MGS?
I wouldn't say so judging from the script alone. I never played a single MGS and thing I got all the jokes.

I am well aware why you have posted this question about DRM and I am 100% with you when it comes to the Hitman debacle and GOGs reactioon so far. However - please be careful and remember that such posts might in fact hurt launch sales (uninformed GOGers might actually be afraif the game might have DRM) for small indie devs like Fran who are true GOG supporters and don't treat their customers as second class. I don't think that you want this. IOI screwd up - big time - and imo they deserved what they got ... but unepic_fran has nothing to do with it. He and his small team workrd several years on this small game, even tried to add as many languages as possible and offered everything inclusing soundtrack the same day and the same time here on GOG as he did on Steam.

What I don't understand is why don't sell it on humble bundle drm free too like Unepic. Or on the website. And why use the steam drm (you can publish on steam without it).
We, as customers, need to be free to boycot gog, and there is no reason the only drm free version should be the gog one. If he really is a gog fan he should understand that and publish the game drm free on other platforms
