Ghorpm: Hahahaha! Good one!

Wait... are you sure it's not a late April fools joke?

I actually regret that I haven't put Tyranny on my wishlist. It would be a pleasure to remove it :D

But obviously, this is just my personal point of view. If you don't have a problem with it and/or intend to buy it - good for you. I'm always glad when somebody gets what he/she wants. I've just had some good laugh so I'm happy too! :D
You beat me to it, I even had to check date on computer & rub my eyes twice to see if I was dreaming lol.

Starmaker: How is it different from paying for a copy of the game?
You see all of those images to the left of folks forums names. They cost anything from nothing to make, to perhaps the cost of electricity to run a basic computer to make them.

As for DLC cost, just check out the amount of free stuff added to Shadow Warrior2 & compare it to this ;)

Just another day at the office for Paradox.

I'm not necessarily opposed to cosmetic DLC, but this is just ridiculously expensive.
Combined with the fact that Paradox can't be bothered to provide DLCs to upgrade PoE and Tyranny, it's almost insulting.

EDIT: Just found out Paradox does sell upgrade DLC on Steam :/
Screw it, this just is insulting.

I've just removed Tyranny from my wishlist, good job, Paradox!
It is always a good idea to insult your audience.

yogsloth: I just love that the first and only comment on the store page is a set of detailed instructions for uploading your own portraits.
In case it gets lost in time:
How to insert your own portraits by Schlaumayr

To make your own portrait, you need to create 2 different images. One with 210x330 pixels and another with 76x96 pixels, both in PNG format. You can use GIMP for example to resize any picture you like. You have to name the larger image NAME_lg.png and the smaller one NAME_sm.png. Put both of them into your tyranny folder that goes like .../Tyranny/Tyranny_Data/data/art/gui/portraits/player/male respectively .../female.
Now you should be able to choose your custom Portrait during the character creation.
Find pictures you like on the world wide web (of course, you don't want to violate copyright laws) or create your own custom pics.
Please don't support this impudence and give them money for a thing, a decent publisher would offer for free.

Chandoraa: Yeah, I think the time has come to stop regarding GOG as being any better than any other store. Not that I even care about this game in particular (not until it's very heavily discounted anyway), but you could say this is the straw that broke the camel's back. I so wish I had a backup of Good Old GOG's advertising videos about being ripped off or eating the whole cake to prove my point, but then again, who could expect at that time that they'd end up pulling such a 180° turn? Well, whatever, it's not like it's the first time the games industry (or a niche thereof) stops regarding me as a desirable target or anything.
If GoG wants to be a real legitimate entity in the digital game business, these are the things you have to do. At some point they decided they didn't want to be a niche little store, probably because they found out that business model is not sustainable in this current environment. Things like regional pricing, introducing a client, early access are all things that make sense in order to operate in these times.

Those images to the left of folks' user names are sourced from elsewhere and often breach copyright. (Yours is from Magicka. At some point, the same Paradox you're bashing here paid someone to paint it.)

By your "logic", you shouldn't be buying commercial games -- you should be either pirating them (because they're free on the interwebs and only idiots pay for things you can get for free, hur hur) or downloading and playing free games instead.

Surprise! Newly commissioned art costs money!

All digital costs are fake. There's no inherent fairness to any pricing model for digital content under capitalism. Paradox makes people who want new portraits to pay for the portraits. FWH added "free" content and included the cost in the base game's price. One is better PR, but the math is the same.
It's as easy as: If you don't like it, don't buy it.
It's only a cosmetic DLC and you are not missing anyting of the game.
So there is no problem there.
The problem in my opinion is, that most people complaining are completionists (like me) who want these portaits for free. ;)

The problem is is that people wanted to be able to upgrade between the versions of Pillars of Eternity & Tyranny. When a direct response was finally given from Paradox regarding this issue, Paradox claimed that there were issues with GOG's storefront that made it unable to add new SKUs to made the upgrades possible. Lo & behold when Paradox wants to offer cosmetic DLC there's suddenly not an issue adding this cosmetic DLC SKU. This kind of baldfaced bullshit is what people are pissed off about!

Vissavald: Who's to blame? Greedy and cynical developers and sellers? Yes. But the main culprits are YOU, buyers, overjoying and overhyping, crying on every corner about the cold stale sh*t like Tyranny, Numenera, and other modern talentless games, crying like "Oh, the new standard for RPGs, how modern are they, how cool are they, the best game of latest ten years... blah-blah-blah"...
Oh no, not me, I never lost control. :-P

IMHO the problem is that this could very well be "a test balloon" (that's an idiom for a method/means used to find something out) to see how the customers react to it and if the reaction is neutral/favorable, we might get blood DLCs or something of the kind, when pieces of game one normally would expect to be included into it are sold separately.
Imagine a DLC adding AK and SVD to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or ability to assign quick buttons to groups of units in C&C.
