Evil can be lawful, as much as it can be chaotic.

Tyranny, Obsidian Entertainment's epic RPG that tasks you with enforcing the law on a land recovering from war, is available now for Windows, Mac, and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements.

Sometimes you can't control history. However, you can control how its inevitable turns affect the people. After years of bloody conflict, the world of Tyranny has fallen under the rule of Kyros, a powerful Overlord who is now looking for strong individuals willing to enforce his law and keep his subjects in line. Once you become a Fatebinder, you will hold the power to shape the lives of thousands with your decisions. Will you act as an unquestioning instrument of your lord's justice or will you find other ways of bringing order to this broken world? Depending on your choices, some challenges can be overcome with mutually beneficial arrangements or coercion, but if push comes to shove, the real-time-with-pause combat shall help those who defy you see reason.

Embark on a dark journey where your decisions will dictate what kind of Tyranny the people will experience, DRM-free on GOG.com.
Grab the official, 18-track OST, a high-resolution map and wallpapers, plus 4 exclusive Coats of Arms in the Archon Edition. To further expand your authority, go for the Overlord Edition, which also adds 3 exclusive short stories, a Guide Book, and a sweet Art book.
For instructions on how to redeem your Paradox Plaza forum icons and avatars, please check the Tyranny gamecard.

Hi all,

For those of you experiencing some oddness with the Tyranny pre-load in Galaxy, please go to "More" then "Setting" and you will see an option to enable or disable automatic updates.

Please switch a few times between the "Automatically" and "Manually" settings in the updates menu.

if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask :)

jepf999: I couldn't stand Pillars of Eternity for its verbosity. I found the mass of bloated texts to be boring and exhausting and gave up after approx. five hours.

Any chance that I might like Tyranny?
Doesn't look like it.
Check Twitch, folk were streaming it last couple of days.
Is there a proper retail version of this? By proper I mean not exclusive to eg. Amazon.

Then you better pass on this... Verbosity is ten times higher (worse) in Tyranny.

I found one on ebay, another one on Play-Asia and another one on a UK store, so it doesn't seem to be exclusive to Amazon. The retail version, btw, is scheduled to be released on 15 November, so it may take a while till you can see it on a Greek store.

Tyranny is definitely wordier, but I'd say the quality of the writing is better (so far anyways I've played maybe 10 hours and haven't finished the game yet).

ShadowWulfe: Oops, forgot the release was today. I guess the pre-order bonuses won't be available for another year or so, so I guess I will have to wait.
I hadn't realised it was out this weekend. I was debating if I should pre-order (since I won't get time to play for a while) kind of dependent on how much money I spent at concerts this weekend (last nights was a cheap one). Guess I was too late. I'll just wait too since there is no other incentive (eg discount instead of pre-order) and the overloard edition is a bit pricey right now.

I'm sure by the time we get to go for it all of the addons will have been released.

I really should keep a better calendar.

Your probably right and when I looked at the two extras they didn't look like they would have much of an impact on game play.

It would be good to save a bit of money on it too. Just been reviewing my finances and I've been spending record amounts this year (haven't yet given my charity contributions, I'm months behind on that) and I've no real additional savings in the bank. I've had even less time to game this year than previous years as well (I'm not so often at home)

Probably time to cut back and assess.
So how is the game so far for those who bought and playing it?.

Thanks for the info smiling fact cat. I was aware of the date but it was presented as specific to an Amazon UK release.
Anyone here, who has the same problems with Tyranny?
Start the game, create character, play, save, finish. When i will play again every savegame is gone.
Only option is to begin a new game.

I like it a lot. The writing is better than Pillars of Eternity in my opinion. The factions, enemies, and quest givers are more interesting and dialogue seems to have more impact on what happens in the game.

The setting and atmosphere are good too. It's got a more anarchic vibe to it than most RPGs, kind of reminds me of the Hive and Curst sections of Planescape: Torment.

The only major complaint I have is that the AI can be kind of shitty at times. It'll make characters heal each other at inappropriate times, cast fire spells on fire based enemies, send archers running into combat, etc. There's also a lot of pathing issues which can be a real pain in the ass.
I've found this on the Steam forums

Paradox Accounts
What’s this daily-reward thing?
You will receive one daily reward for playing logged in to a Paradox account on consecutive days. Here are the list of consumables that will be randomly distributed:

Healing Potion (Fine) - 50% HP
Healing Potion (Superior) - 100% HP
Potion of Revival - brings a fallen party member back from KO
Cairn's Leaf - +4 Armor, +20% Endurance defense
Oldwater - +10 Arcane Armor, +20% Magic defense
Potion of Elemental Barrier - +10 Shock/Fire/Frost Armor, +50 Defense vs. Paralyzed/Burning/Frozen
Dire Remedy - 120-pt Stasis Shield, +4% Max Health
Potion of Heroes - +2 to all Attributes
Scarlet Poison - Poisons enemies on Crit
Fatiguing Toxin - Weakens enemies on Crit
Potion of Invisibility
Skycap - +10 Lore, +10 Magic Skills, +4 Wits
Does the GOG build support this? Do we want it? Do we need it?
I've said this before:

It looks like something I might very much enjoy, I'm excited for it. I'll probably wait at least a year if not 2 before getting it (if at that time it still looks like a good game.)

No need for this anywhere close to release.

Sounds like early-release bugs and kinks that will be smoothed over time.

Another reason to not get/play RPGs on release, they're just bound to be better 6 months-1year later when the major patches are through.

You can login to a paradox account from the main menu. It's totally optional.
