T-Rex cutlets is what's for dinner.

Turok, the remastered fast-paced jurrassic FPS, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Remember when dinosaurs were all the rage and aliens were still scary? Ah, yes, the 90s. What a magical time to be growing up. Imagine a jungle-like land populated with unfriendly aliens. Now throw in some aggressive flora for added inhospitality. Surely, dinosaurs are the next logical addition. No wait, make that dinosaurs with guns. All that's missing now is an angry Native American warrior of time-travelling heritage to clean up the mess and thwart a great evil in the process. There, pure 90s.

Thankfully, Turok is not in the habit of entering such exotic-but-hostile lands unprepared. Strapped across his back are all kinds of devastating weapons, from the not-so-humble bow and knife to handheld instruments of mass destruction like miniguns and rocket-launchers. Plus all the havoc they wreak now looks extra spiffy in this remastered version, thanks to widescreen and high resolutions support, improved level design and fancy lighting effects.

Bring an army of oversized reptiles closer to extinction as the legendary Turok, now DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last until December 24, 17:59 PM GMT.

Klumpen0815: I guess you mean 1.13d.
Yes, that was a typo.
Afaik there is none.
Thank you anyways, I guess I'll go back to playing Torchlight II.
Nice to see more games appearing on GOG, but price is unreasonable.

Klumpen0815: Awesome, thanks.
I mostly prefer upgraded classics to modern games and got a dedicated folder just for widescreen/HD hacks and textures on my drive that is regularly used.

orbika: :) That is really a good idea.

wormholewizards: What's so overpriced about it? Game is good, beside video games are like art - they're timeless.
avatar
orbika: Look, a game like Unreal costs 10 EUR:
https://www.gog.com/game/unreal_gold
So? Two different games. Beside Unreal has nowhere near same recognition value that Turok has.

Wha? I like me some Turok, but Unreal is far more widely known and respected.

Well, maybe not on the N64. :-)

Then again, the N64 isn't widely respected either. :P
For some reason I had one, should rather have gotten a PSX instead, but being a SNES fanboy...

Uhm, what is an N64? Do you mean C-64?

N64 was a great system, it deserved better than it got. I don't regret choosing it.

Imho the only good games where Lylat Wars, Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Zelda 5, Blast Corps and Paper Mario (I didn't even have that).
All the other good games that continued the SNES tradition (especcially JRPGs like "Breath of Fire" series, "Star Ocean" series, "Tales of" Series, Persona, etc..) as well as hundreds of others were on PSX.
On top of that, you can play the original discs in HD on every operating system today.
If I could go back, I'd tell my younger self to get a PSX instead.

I'd like to add to that list of genuinely good games with:
Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo Kazooie/Tooie, World Driver Championship (Better than Gran Turismo imo), 1080, Wave Race, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Beetle Racing, F-Zero X, Duke Nukem Zero Hour, Doom 64, Jet Force Gemini, Goeemon's Great Adventure, Killer Instinct Gold, Kirby 64, Turok (Obviously), Quake II, Ridge Racer 64, San Francisco Rush 2049, Tetrisphere, WWF No Mercy.

I wouldn't because I personally have just as many issues with Sony as I do Steam, though I don't want to go into it as I tend to get a bit bilious when discussing the company. I think the N64 was the better console, but now I've got emulation to play those PSX titles that I missed. ;)

Well, OK, Nintendo 64 was a solid console at the time and has some really great games (just to mention 007: Goldeneye 64).

But if you look at the selling numbers the Playstation IMHO trumped it (and not only the Nintendo console, SEGA was doomed). They (SEGA) could not save their console business with Dreamcast either.

And now Nintendo is on the same way as SEGA if they won't make a good move with the NX or whatever it will be called. The Wii U is DOA (or was from the beginning) because of bad marketing. At least if they did change the name ... but no. And the hardware. Almost no 3rd party support in the begining of 2015 ...

Yes, they are still selling the Wii U, no question about that and yes I agree that, there as some great 1st party games to choose from (aka the new one is Xeonblade, next year maybe Starfox and the Zelda - or not, who knows?)

They now trying to be a licensor of their mascots and brands (Mario franchise etc.) in form of Amiibo etc.
This will work for the near future, but what than?

Pokémon. As long as they have that they have me.
I yielded and bought it, it was too tempting :/
