T-Rex cutlets is what's for dinner.

Turok, the remastered fast-paced jurrassic FPS, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com with a 20% launch discount.

Remember when dinosaurs were all the rage and aliens were still scary? Ah, yes, the 90s. What a magical time to be growing up. Imagine a jungle-like land populated with unfriendly aliens. Now throw in some aggressive flora for added inhospitality. Surely, dinosaurs are the next logical addition. No wait, make that dinosaurs with guns. All that's missing now is an angry Native American warrior of time-travelling heritage to clean up the mess and thwart a great evil in the process. There, pure 90s.

Thankfully, Turok is not in the habit of entering such exotic-but-hostile lands unprepared. Strapped across his back are all kinds of devastating weapons, from the not-so-humble bow and knife to handheld instruments of mass destruction like miniguns and rocket-launchers. Plus all the havoc they wreak now looks extra spiffy in this remastered version, thanks to widescreen and high resolutions support, improved level design and fancy lighting effects.

Bring an army of oversized reptiles closer to extinction as the legendary Turok, now DRM-free on GOG.com. The 20% launch discount will last until December 24, 17:59 PM GMT.
20€ really?
Bit pricey as others have said even if its for a remaster and thats with the discount

A long time ago GOG meant Good Old Games and there was two prices categories: 5$ and 10$, not 12€ or 20€, do you remember? I miss those times.
Will there be a mod to increase the fog, or a enchanced fog(fogger) mod?
For a company to take the time to port a 18 year old N64 game to modern machines is just amazing. This isn't a simple a rerelease of an old game. It's a port and an enhanced port at that. Arguably a price like $15 would probably be more fitting, but even for $20 thus is a very pleasant surprise.

Wow. Turok. I never expect to hear that name again.
Didn't like it much on the PC back then (it might have been Turok 2, though, memory is kinda fuzzy there), because the shooting with the bow felt kinda odd.

At a 75% discount I'd be willing to give it another try, though.

Klumpen0815: Well, Samuel "Kaiser" Villarreal who made this overhaul after having been hired by Nightdive previously made a second version of his excellent PC port of Doom64 which directly uses assets from the N64 rom, so it's definitely possible with him.

If Kaiser wouldn't have been hired by Nightdive, we'd probably would have a new PC port of Powerslave (on which he was working at the time and which seems to use the same engine) by now for free and the Turok overhaul later for free too instead of having to pay 20 Bucks for it. I just hope that he gets most of this money although I doubt it.
I assume that he get's the same deal as he did for his work on Strife, which was a very short contract (two or three months) part time. He did lots of work without getting paid. I'm not sure about the exact numbers, I've read about the re-release on the doomworld forums some time ago.

tinyE: No, ever since the divorce I can't stand hearing his mother's name.
If his mother's name bothers you that much would you at least consider Frankenberger? That should really stick it in the craw of those who didn't keep their word to you...

I knew a guy with that name! XD No shit, back in St Louis 35 years ago. I would imagine he's long since died. Nice guy but kind of stuck in the 50's. Korean War vet too.

Are you aware, that there also was a pc version and this remaster is an enhanced version of it and not of the n64 version?

Yes, it is just a re-release; Turok 1 and 2 had "real" PC versions back in the day (my 2 big boxes nod in agreement ;), no N64 "magic" needed

and as much I'd like reworked versions, 20 bucks is still too much for a almost 20 year old game ...

Thats not entirly correct.
The witcher games was higher in price than the base prices for other games in the old good days.
they were also newer than what one woud call good old games.
There was also some few others games in the old times that didnt follow the base price example or the good old games example.
But cant be bothered to dig up data for that now but it has been mentioned countless times before.
So many Goglodytes can't be wrong: Sadly overpriced.

chevkoch: On the stream the dev said there is a new build already uploaded, which will be available soon. He mentioned Galaxy being the culprit in some way.

haydenaurion: Ah good, hopefully it solves the crashing and speed issues some are having.

Galaxy being the culprit, why am I not surprised? :P
Everytime I hear someone report a Galaxy-related hiccup, I congratulate myself for not having installed it :)
turok was impressive in the past.... but only on the consoles. compared to to the unreal or quake games, it's cute i guess.
