UPDATE: What the people want, the people shall get. The President has decreed that, as of today, all 12 available Tropico 5 DLC shall be bundled and included in the <span class="bold">Tropico 5 Complete Collection</span>, also available to the loyal but apprehensive subjects as a <span class="bold">Tropico 5 Complete Collection Upgrade</span>. More buildings, more scenarios, more maps, more craziness.
But El Presidente's generosity knows no bounds, hence he also decided to permanently decrease the prices of his latest adventures, accurately depicted in Tropico 5, Tropico 4, and Tropico 4 Complete DLC Pack. Go ahead and cheer in celebration. It's mandatory.

If you own Tropico 5 already, you'll find a unique 66% discount code for the Tropico 5 Complete Collection Upgrade on your game shelf. Head to My Account and locate Tropico 5 to find your code.

The newest, the biggest.

<span class="bold">Tropico 5</span>, the latest and greatest in the whimsical city-management series, is available now, DRM-free on GOG.com with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and multiplayer.

You rule, El Presidente! For years, for decades, for generations. Forever, and ever, and ever.
If you're not familiar with Tropico 5 or the series, it's a game that mixes familiar city-management gameplay with a fair bit of political play. As El Presidente, from the late colonial era through modern day, you will ensure that your little republic has a stable economy, a healthy flora and fauna, a content populace, and no uprisings whatsoever. Nope. None at all.
Or at least that's what the papers say, but Tropico 5 offers you the enigmatic look behind the closed curtains of a wacky banana republic led by an incredible egomaniac. You.

Universally considered to be the most successful, cumulative refinement of the mechanics from Tropico 3 & 4, Tropico 5 is the latest and greatest of the series. With more challenge than ever before, new ways to see your republic grow, and - for the first time ever - multiplayer support, it's a must-have for fans of the series, interested newcomers, and you, El Presidente.

Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, banana republic - <span class="bold">Tropico 5</span> is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.

Another release without the Mac and Linux versions. I wish GOG would press a bit more on these 2 platforms. The Metro games are still not here despite they work fairly well on Linux, Dungeons II is a Unity game and yet no Linux version either.

A few months ago we had the Victor Vran and Crypt of the Necrodancer releases, another similar story there, wasn't GOG's fault the builds were not ready but, they knew they weren't going to be available on release, so why not put a message about it? At least the community would then take it up with the developer/publisher.

Bottom Line:

The community is going to bring up these questions every time, especially when the said builds are available on Steam. GOG has to keep one thing in mind, Mac and Linux gamers do exist and should be treated as important as the Windows ones (we're human too).

Sorry for the rant, among the lack of update notifications, AAA games and minor issues here, this is the only thing that bothers me a lot.

is any of DLC for 5 story related or was it just bits and pieces which didnt add to it? (much like 4 where there were only 1 -2 dlc worthwhile)

"Multiplayer Notice: Please note that the GOG Galaxy Client is required to access Multiplayer"

I especially love this. :D I've seen several discussions about this on other releases already so there is no point starting that again. GOG should simply stop calling Galaxy optional when it clearly isn't.

It is for Single Player. And for Multiplayer they do need some sort of API. I for example play only SP, so I don't care.
I would consider buying this now, but until we get confirmation that the DLC will show up here I'm not taking any chances.

Galaxy is optional, as you don't need it to play the game. Obviously if a feature (such as multiplayer, leaderboards, or achievements) is dependent on Galaxy then you'll need it to access that feature, but that doesn't mean that it's not optional.
Finally!! This is outstanding news! I'm going to get this this Christmas. I've been waiting for almost a year now!
About the DLC: are they still developing new DLC content for the game, or is everything that there will be for this game already been released (on Steam)?

If all DLC is out there already, then hopefully GOG/Kalypso will release them later in one big DLC pack.
Tropico 1, still the best of the series.

And frankly, I have little faith in games developed by Kalypso. (The originial was developed by the now defunct PopTop Software)

Games like Age of Wonders 3 manage to have multiplayer without using Galaxy, so uhm, yeah. Sure, every game is different but I'm not too fond of using clients and the priority should be to not have to use any additional software when playing a DRM-free game. That's kind of important.
Just saying. o_O

Check when Age of Wonders 3 was released, then check when Galaxy was released. That's why it wasn't implemented; plus, some developers have their own separated form of match making such as AoW3.

Many developers wouldn't bring their games to GOG because GOG lacked the multiplayer and other features that steam offered. Galaxy replaces those features.
Wasn't expecting this here untill an eventual Tropico 6 came out. Still, not releasing the already availible dlc with the game or as a dlc pack is a big minus.

HornyRhino: another glitch with pricing on the website as far as the regional pricing rebate is concerned lol

got to webpage for the game TROPICO 5

https://www.gog.com/game/tropico_5

it clearly says

£3.70 OFF ANY FUTURE PURCHASE. You get bonus store credit (our Fair Price Package) to offset the regional pricing.

YET if you add it to the basket it now says

Store credit you will get after this purchase + £1.90

very weird bug.
It's not really a bug, just a misstatement.

When you are in the gamecard, the discount applied is 60%, based on the game being purchased alone.

However, once you get to the checkout page their system attempts to match your purchase with any other discounts available for this game, and it gets a match because you have every other game in its bundle (which JMich quickly identified). So the discount applied is 80% instead.

The rest is a simple matter of economics. It's obvious the store credit you get back by spending $5 is lower than what you get by spending $10, even if it is for the same game. Roughly half of it, in fact.

(Dollars used because I don't know how much it costs in euros. Prices roughly rounded)

Edit: typos

Ooooh, instabuy! I do hope we'll see a complete DLC pack for Tropico 5 soon on Gog, but not sure whether Haemimont is already finished with releasing DLC for the game? Plus, 80% off (already own the others) is too good a discount to pass on. :-)
YES!!! Thank you GOG
