By the trailer, I got an impression this is some kind of Amiga game remake, but I couldn't find any information on the original(?) in e.g. Mobygames.

Is this based on an Amiga game (by a different name), or merely inspired by similar Amiga games?

EDIT: Waiddaminute... googling for Tower 57 Amiga suggested that this is a totally new game that will be released also for Amiga?!? Wow...

It's rather "inspired by".

Not exactly my cup of tea.
Is Linux port planned here? It seems that their previous productions are all delivered for Linux...

It really sounds like they have been following some of the complaints on the forums here several points made:
And yes you can play localy
Random levels are gone
Etc.

Anyways, looks like a nice enough shooter, will keep and eye on it.
damn that pixel art looks nice!

about the "inspired by" : many games are inspired by but these games could become abundant ( to many games and more of the same) i always thought that games like that would be niche or what was the word used ?
If games like these can arrive by the dozens and are not considered niche that would be very weird.

Anyway sometime some games of more of the same do arrive by the dozens while others will never arrive.

Amiga will have lower requirements because the PC will use all technology that is available today so the recommended requirements will be quite high for a game that would run on old simple computers in the 80's.:

Recommended system requirements - Windows: 7 / 8 / 10
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo 2.4, AMD Athlon(TM) X2 2.8 Ghz
Memory: 4 GB RAM

What is the save system? Continues? Checkpoints? Permadeath?

Yes they are i was one of them in the past.

The problem with extremely fast and advanced PC nowadays is the fact that devs might become ' lazy'
cause unity is used much to often , other game engines like microsoft xna game studio 4.0 is also a modern development tool :Underrail is developed using NET 4.0 framework and XNA Game Studio 4.0.
XNA was released in 2006 by Microsoft.

Now and then some good and fun games are developed that do not need a high end pc to run it and the games are usually highly optimised, have small exe files, and play a charm.
Anyone remember the games on genesis? Well thanks to Amiga, they wouldn't have existed otherwise, as most 16 bit gems were developed on that magnificent system!

Wishlisted!

A checkpoint save after levels. There's also a city area with a hotel where you can manually trigger the save. You start the game by selecting 3 out of the game's available 6 characters, and they act like a lives system. Die as one of them, and you switch to one of the others. No permadeath; if you die as all three, you just get sent back to the last checkpoint. There are orbs you can find during levels that allow you to resurrect dead characters, too.

Also, starting a new game doesn't overwrite a previous playthrough's save. It automatically saves in a different slot.
Does online co-op require Galaxy or registration?
