Lhun Duum: People, let's be honest here. The kind of content that was "censored" would have been illegal in most countries; Yes they could make an uncensored patch available off-site, but that too would be illegal in many countries; so what do you want the publisher to do? break the laws?
More importantly, despite them removing the problematic content, they still got blocked from releasing the game on most platforms/regions. And instead of supporting both the publisher for trying to release that game, and GOG for accepting the title, you are complaining and refuse to buy the game or are asking for refund. The only thing this will end up doing is no publishers will try to release those Japanese games ever again in the West, censored or not. So who will win? All the western companies (VISA...) that try to censor Japanese/Asian media, even when they complies whit the local/international laws.
N1c3_0n3: it's not about 'winning', it's about getting what you want, simple as that. It's a little bit disingenuous to advocate for people to buy what they, clearly, don't want (censored products) to 'own the VISA' or whatever
I actually would prefer them not to release games in the west. Adding english subtitles to the eastern release is good enough. Or Fan translations also exist. If nothing else one can try to learn Japanese then it also has an extra use ;)

Has nothing to do with laws but we in the west also live in an outrage society and the outrage of soccer Moms knows no bounds.(And that again can cost money).

Well, not sure GOGs signature is "big enough" to become noticed by that "outraged society"... i mean "Soccer Moms", yet it is a interesting view. Those people are usually a bit dumb, so they need to sufficiently know the name of the platform they try to pick. GGG... barely able to spell it out... Steam, that works!
In theory someone could provide a patch in order to "put back the censored content" but.... as long as this content has not been released on any place world wide, it will become impossible. On Switch this is a difficult task (locked environment) but for the GOG version no issue at all.
Just to be clear, "only" the minigame is affected? Question is how big of a loss it actually is.
I would not reimburse the game because in the end, most likely the devs simply felt like they "had no other choice" and they already had been "banned" on Steam and probably many other places. So they had in mind "to play it safe now" and the only places left it actually "worked" is GOG and Switch HK. Perhaps some even smaller places may work as well but the sales will be lower there, and if they could release it completely uncut there is a good question.
However... i hope there is some way they can still somehow offer the censored minigame without facing legal consequences... no matter directly on GOG or on a "external site".
Well think that is what people are hoping for, just an uncensor patch on a different site.
And yeah like I said I don't blame the Dev, I even assume it's not even a big part of the game. Buying a censored game is just not happening with me, no matter how small or what censorship it is.
And you're probably right, GOG is not as much of a target as steam but I bet they get their fair share of outrage. Pretty obvious in most NSFW Game threads lol
