Big in Japan.

Throne of Darkness, a fast-paced ARPG where you slaughter hordes of exotic demons with your well-trained samurai, is now available DRM-free, exclusively on GOG.com.

Combine powerful warlords with demonic influence and trouble will soon follow. When the most prominent shogun surrenders to darkness, only a handful of heroic samurai is left standing against the evil that now threatens to engulf the land of Yamato. Seven distinct classes, tons of neat loot, and massive demonic armies that can't wait to meet your mouse pointer make this a real treasure for lovers of Diablo-style gameplay.

Klumpen0815: Come on!
The game is from 2001, you could at least give WinXP support to that one.
And it looks really ridiculous when it's written in SysReq section on game page: Windows 7 minimum, and DirectX 7 videocard :D

But no, no way, brave GOG staff can't give a guarantee that this game from 2001 would run on your system in 2017, of course... Don't blame'em, they are just humble slaves of someone big's ill will.

vicklemos: Why always 7, eh? Why not... EIGHT?! ;)
Edit: I'm wrong, it's four that's bad.

Eight is a very unlucky number in much of Asia. Like 13 or 666 in western countries.

GOG's stated mission with old games is to make them as playable out of the box as possible on modern operating systems. If it works on older systems, that's a great side effect but they should focus any necessary tweaks on Windows 7/8/10 (maybe Vista). If you want to play it on XP and this version doesn't work, just grab a used CD off of Ebay. Otherwise, it's like someone buying Fallout 1 or 2 here expecting to play them on Windows 95.

Darucas: Lots of lore, if I remember well. A bit like Diablo II's. There's also small but complete biographies for all fighter in each of the four clans (so 7x4 bios!).

Matewis: Very cool. I bought Diablo II with some saved up money while away on vacation. I.e. without my pc, which made it torture waiting to get back home. It was all the lore included in the manual which I read over and over that kept me from going insane :P
I know the feeling ^^ Diablo 1/2 manuals really read as chronicles too, espcially D1, they do a great job at setting up the atmosphere and universe.
I've just checked out my old copy, there's something like 20 pages of lore out of 73. Not as much as I remembered, but the bios are a surprising addition. There's also a list of items (weapons) and opponents that may count as both gampelay hints and lore (speaking of lore and gameplay, there's always three characters in each clan that have predifined personal quests, which add a bit to their personnality and variety).

Luned: Like 13 (...) in western countries.
Tell me about it. Some will understand ;)
A must buy. Badass job.

I do miss the lore heavy manuals. I bet Diablo 3 was just "rub a dub dub just smash sum dub" in comparison.
This looks like a nice release, and it's an old game I've never played. It's on my wishlist for now since my backlog is so out of control. I just finished the first Mass Effect last night, and plan to start Mass Effect 2 tonight. I will finish that trilogy.
shit, I forgot the video settings are hidden on this game. Now I have to try and remember where the hell they are.

wait. maybe they aren't.

Does it come with a fix for the resolution ? If i remember correctly it's a 640*480 game ... a little small on a modern widescreen. :p

DrearierSpider: I'll keep posting this every time Activision re-releases a game here:

We need Soldier of Fortune 1 & 2 on here already, damnit!
I'm sure someone's already mentioned it to you but that one's a licensing issue I'm sure, because of the magazine...
Hell yeah!
Finally! I only had this on that demo disk that came with Mech-Commander 2(remember that baby?) . Instabuy as hell!
Been looking forward to this. :)
This is an awesome release! I own the box and original disc for this game. If I remember correctly it had one of those unusual large boxes.
But Barbie: Super Sports...
