Walk the line

The Witness, an island full of mind-bending puzzles solved through keen observation and persistent exploration, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 10% launch discount.

Puzzles. The enigmatic island you've woken up in is dotted with panels full of puzzles. To solve them, all you need to do is draw a continuous line from an entry point to an exit point. Simple, isn't it? It isn't. As in every great mind-bender, there are rules to follow, visual clues to decipher, hidden paths to discover. Designed by Braid's creator Jonathan Blow, the vibrant, meticulously arranged island provides all the hints you need, while at the same time obfuscating its true nature from you. Approaching the puzzles with an open mind and exploring the environment in an open way are essential to overcoming the island's challenges, as you learn to speak its language and fall in love with its deceptive simplicity.

Walk a straight line towards an abundance of brilliant puzzles and become The Witness, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 10% launch discount will last until May 18, 12:59 PM UTC.

In the press:
"Exquisitely layered puzzles populate a world that will keep you guessing" - PC Gamer
"Just as arresting and enthralling as anyone could have expected" - Game Rant
Too rich for my blood at the moment. Wishlisted. Glad to see it (and Braid, at last) on GOG, though.

Barry_Woodward: Full price? Is it not 10% off for everyone?
Also, doesn't GOG give store credit?

edit:

Barry_Woodward: There is a lot of game here. You could spend 70 hours on this sucker.
Now this I don't get. Why on earth is the value of a game determined by how much of your life it devours? If anything, game value should be proportional to [a positive power of] content per time unit, with game length in the denominator.

omega64: Nope, I was just over the two hour limit.
How much over it? If it's your first time initiating a refund they'd be a bit liberal with the restrictions.

Edit: also unless you've initiated a dozen refunds in past 2 months then I'd suggest dropping a request. Even if it gets rejected at least you've tried. (if this isn't your first refund request that is)

IAmSinistar: How are the puzzles? Are they traditional puzzles like Myst, environmental puzzles like MIND: Path to Thalamus, or abstract puzzles like Niko: Through the Dream? I suspect the smartarse answer will be "yes". ;)

And just saying, but for that price you could pretty much pick up , Niko: Through the Dream, and MIND: Path to Thalamus together.
Uh-oh. You just wrote Myst. LynetteC won't be able to contain herself now ;-p

It's been quite a while since release, not sure how they'd handle it.
Guess I might as well try though.
Pretty looking... maybe grab it in a year or so once price drops... I did enjoy Braid...

It's up to the player how much time they want to invest in the game and take in all it has to offer. You could certainly breeze through it much quicker. With all the praise it's received, it seems to be providing an optimal ratio of content per time unit for most people.

A solid 2,300 votes completed, between this and Braid :)

From what I saw of the first hour, it was just moving a glowing ball around mazes on game screens. Uninteresting to me, but apparently many others wanted it here, so I'm glad it came.

The discount here is equal to the one on Steam in the past, so that's nice. https://isthereanydeal.com/#/page:game/info?plain=witness

I have to agree. I'd rather play a 2-3 hour tightly-made game than a 20-hour grind/snoozefest, but that may just be because I don't have much time for gaming now. (Now I do like a huge sandbox like GTA where I can spend an hour or two just goofing off and doing sweet stunts.)

Breja: Wait, wait, wait.... how much?

Pfft.

Ha!

Buahahahahahahahahahaha!

>BOOM!<

In my opinion that price is reasonable for an over 600 puzzles game. Yes, each puzzle consists of drawing lines on a board but each one has it's own twist by adding new rules. These rules you have to find out first. There is no help ingame which explains the rules of the puzzles.
