The biggest thing in RPG gets bigger.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone, the first of two anticipated epic expansions, is available now with full GOG Galaxy support, DRM-free on GOG.com.

In the world of The Witcher, nearly everything that you do matters - once in a while you may just have to face the heavy consequences of even the briefest interactions.
A new contract awaits from the mysterious Merchant of Mirrors. Geralt of Rivia will take on the impossible: a quest to defeat one man cursed with the power of immortality - and he'll do so over 10 hours of new adventure with new characters, new monsters, new romances, plenty of whimsy, and a whole new storyline for him to shape. You'll see Geralt like you've never seen him before.

Check out IGN's review of the Hearts of Stone expansion, but watch out for spoilers!

aegiskleais: I hope this message isn't lost on some, but if you're not level 65 or higher DO NOT START THE NEW QUEST LINE.

No spoilers, but I'm in an early stage "boss" battle, and the enemy is nigh on impossible to beat. He does 1 shot kills, you cannot block, you cannot counter, and the maximum damage I can do is about 1 pixel's worth of damage to the HP bar (with Igni boosted 248%)

It seems the save game load times have gotten worse with this expansion. The average 25-30+ seconds so each time you die (in 1 shot) you now have to wait over half a minute before you try again. After about 30 tries in a row, I've given up and am looking to just lose all the progress I've made so far.

Problem is, to go from L56 to L65 or so which would put me on par with these enemies is another 16,000XP away, and it would take a NG++ to get there.

For the meanwhile this has definitely put me off from playing the game. The high-level play is very uncalibrated. You have L36 enemies doing 1 swing kills on me, but some L60 Wyvern can hit me 6+ times before I die. The scaling is just very flaky. So, be warned.
I recommend trying different builds or play styles. It's very possible to have 100% crit chance and 7k/5k DPS on silver sword/steel sword respectively. Or maybe just tick down the difficulty level. It's really not that hard IMO.

Oddly enough, the game let me FLEE the battle so that's what I did.

Never had a time in the game where my swords outdid my signs in damage. Igni does about 2.5-3K damage per tick on some enemies. By the time they're done with the "on fire" animation cycle, I just hit them again and keep them in perpetual damage.

InsomniaSC2: Don't buy, it's not worth it. You can't even start a new game plus with all your old items and stuff. What the hell is the point in releasing an expansion in which NONE of the previous stuff I found in the main game can be used.
What's wrong with a standalone adventure? Witcher 1 had a few of them. If you don't like it - don't buy it.

But it is not even standalone. And Insomnia is clearly wrong or messing terrible. Game plus is not expansion and you don't have to buy it. It is free DLC. The only released DLC to buy is now Heart of Stone which you can play with your "old" Geralt not in game plus. Just load some save with Geralt at lvl 30 or above and you can play HoS with all gear you had. So I don't understand Insomnia's whining. I loaded my Geralt from before finding Ciri so I can both check some new dialogs added to main story in a few places (found 3 so far with Yen, Triss and Ciri) and play HoS quests slowly. In a few months I will load other Geralt (the one who preffered Triss) and play it once again to check what new dialogs come when I am with Triss and I will play HoS again making different choices. Oh and I still didnt even manage to start game plus. Maybe long after next DLC somewhere in 2017 :)

Bull shit!

i just finished HoS and it was great! but i need to play it again from the start so i can wear the viper school set and i still need to find the viper silver blade!

everyone should buy it . .it was a really great expansion!

enjoy playing guys haha!
Just finished it and wow, it was sooo good. :)

The IRIS story was epic IMHO. Quality story/writing.

So now I want the next expansion to come out. Can't wait.

I don't know if I was hallucinating but the graphics are much better now. On a 2560X1440 G-Sync monitor TW3 looks incredible.

I just finished the mission to retrieve the Borsodi's House, and (LITTLE SPOILER) the scene when geralt instead of picking up the House out candles, I don't know why but it made me laugh, perhaps many times that has happened to me in the game

PS: sorry for any spelling errors but English is not my native language

Witam!

Just finished it. It is really good. Well worth the money. I hope the second expansion is just as good, if not better.
I have weird bug with one of the side-quests.. Its the one with griffin guarding destroyed house. I found the key, beaten griffin, loot the (red) chest in basement but the quest is still active.. Anyone else having this problem?
Great Expansion. Just wish it was a bit longer..
Uhh....I did get myself the witcher 3 collector's edition which should include Hearts of Stone...right? But I cant install/download it anywhre, it says I have to buy it, did I missed something or did they fuk up?
