On top of the pyramid of evil.

The Mummy Demastered is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com. Get it 10% off until January 17, 2PM UTC.
Inspired by the 16-bit classics of yore, this shoot-em-up puts you in the shoes of an elite agent looking to put an end to Ahmanet's reign of evil. Use powerful artifacts and upgraded weapons to exterminate her army of monsters, explore ancient tombs and brave haunted forests.

Too late... I already bought this on Steam like a month ago... *sigh* opens wallet.
This looks really nice! :)
I almost said "Oh, I thought this was the Mummy game based on the Brendan Fraser movie", but...that would be horrible, so this is better!
One few good examples of movie ti-in games that are better that movie itself. Thank you GOG!

To be fair, in this case it wasn't much of a challenge :P

Breja: Piiiiixeeels, nothing but piiiiixeeeels do I seeeee!

Seriously, this much money for a 16-bit looking game based on a very bad movie? So many games GOG refuses to release, and yet the one based on that crap gets here? Hardly seems fair.

Also, 8GB Ram recommended to run something that looks like it's from 1987? Am I missing something?
Yes, all the hipsters that have low rated your post. I don't know where these ridiculous requirements are coming from and they hamper playing these sort of games on tablets where they would fit in much better than a desktop PC or even a laptop.

However I would say it's graphics are more like the old arcade games from that era than the Amiga or 16 bit consoles.

Whatever, it's no skin off my back.

Even more ridiculous as there are games with much nicer pixelated graphics and much lower requirements, like Owlboy or Wildfire.

pmcollectorboy: Just yesterday someone was complaining about modern games looking too shiny, and now we have people complaining about modern games that try to look old... looking too old.

mystral: Newsflash: different people like different things.
Newsflash: some people like playing in their own filth, other people do not like being dragged into it.
Which is what's happened with large segments of gaming since the last decade.

Anyway the game looks better on video instead of screenshots so gog should put a short trailer there.

Nothing a quick search on Youtube can't fix. I think the highlight is the giant spider fight.
I didn't even know there was a new Mummy film, the original one with Fraser was pretty cool.
