I'm not sure whether I'm "the dude" budejovice was talking about (I do complain about GOG being on a strategy and CRPG roll, as of late, but more on twitch chat than in the forums; I did say something in the first SSI D&D release thread, but that was it) but, if I am, well, here I am, complimenting GOG for releasing a point & click adventure and letting them know I instabought the game, if only to show that the adventure crowd is still here and we still support you, as long as you keep providing us with the goodies.

Nothing wrong with diversity, I'm all for it, I would only like for GOG to not make this a "season" thing. Don't spend entire months basically releasing the same genres, that's all. I understand why the CRPG and strategy man-cavey nerds would be mad at us "casual" point & clickers, since GOG did release a lot of "our" games in succession, some time ago. I'm just saying it would be nice to intersperse it a bit more and truly diversify. Some of us don't care about D&D stuff, or Impossible Creatures, and that's OK, we'd just like to have some of the games we love being published while others are getting the games they love, as well.

A nice game, though not a gem or a must-have. I can't get enough of P&C! Hope more interesting titles will arrive soon!

I think ReynardFox's frustration stems from the rejection of CAVE's shmups.

This is a very good adventure game. I hope that we also see a release of Overclocked here on GOG.

The Moment of Silence is from 2004, Overclocked was released three years later.

Speaking of good adventures, I really want to see a release of The Lost Crown and it's sequels The Last Crown - Midnight Horror and The Last Crown - Blackenrock here on GOG.

The Lost Crown is one of the best adventure games I ever played, and I played a lot of point'n'click adventures. Midnight Horror is already out on steam, and Jonathan Boakes wrote in his blog that he plans to release a DRM-free version.

It would be wonderful if GOG would contact him to bring these games here. There are already some of his games in their catalog (Dark Fall 1-3).

Is the latter Thea: The Awakening? I backed that on KS and am disappointed GOG didn't pick it up. Though they've not picked up a number of games I backed on there (like Orion Trail).

I do sometimes wonder what the criterion here is, when I see some things get through and others not when, in my opinion, it should have been the other way around. But I suppose most people feel that way.

rgnrk: I'm worried about EITR, the new game from Devolver Digital, because GOG missed their last 3 releases (broforce, downwell and noct).

PS: Slain! was due for release next week, but I see in metacritic now that it was pushed to the end of January.
PS2: I confused Slain! with EITR, which is the DD game. Slain! looks good, though.
I backed Noct and Slain! as well on KS. I'm glad at least one of them (Slain!) is coming to GOG, as I think it will be a good fit here.

They are doing so. In 2013, they released 183 games. In 2014, they released 204 games and so far in 2015, they have released 294 games; their most release-heavy year.

What usually happens is that every time an adventure game is released anywhere the haters step up even asking for the genre to dissapear as they don't like it. Really, I've never seen a genre causing this emotions. I mean, I've been bad at RTS my whole life, but I have never thought of asking it to dissapear.

Anyway, back to The Moment of Silence. Good game, as it is very interesting and very well written (much better than Overclocked and Mystery of the Druids: at least it touches more topics and with more accuracy). Its main flaw are the looooong loooooooooooong walks. And its backtracking.

Congratulations gog on making this work on modern machines, btw.

To each their own: The Lost Crown is to me the worst thing Jonathan Boakes has been involved in. Horrible voice acting this time (which is surprising), dubious art, pace that is boring, overexposition that becomes pedantic, and a tragic waste of a oh so very interesting theme (M.R. James meet Arthur Machen kind of horror).

Did not play the sequels, though.

An unexpected release! I thought there would be a... moment of silence before the winter sale. Well, it is.. kind of! :)

I played MoS long ago (still have the retail CD) and I liked it, even though the game had some problems. A good game overall, sometimes it was frustrating for me, has lots of dialogue with generally good voice acting, very good graphics. Especially for that price (with the launch discount applied) it is recommended.

This is unfortunate, that people have such absolutist attitudes. Some of it probably comes from the idea that only a certain number of games will be released here, and every release in a category they don't like means one less from the one the do (even though this isn't literally true).

If you want to see real hatred here, wait for GOG to release a HOG (hidden object game). There would be so many outcries of "GOG selling out to the casual market" that the forum would crash for a week.
