Prepare for outstanding strategy, base-building simulator from Introversion Software – The Last Starship is now available on GOG in its early access with a -10% launch discount which lasts until February 22nd, 6 PM UTC!

The Last Starship is the latest video game from acclaimed indie games developer Introversion Software, creator of such gems as Prison Architect, Uplink: Hacker Elite, DEFCON or Darwinia. In this developer’s most ambitious project yet, you can expect engaging exploration of the universe, rich and detailed ship building and customization, ability to process resources and expand your hull, as well as strategic combat and control of the whole fleet!

As your crew awaits your orders, it will be necessary to build your ship. You can select from a range of pre-packaged fleets or build your own, starting from reactor to power your engines, laying down ship’s pipework and electrical systems and managing life support and other ship-wide systems. As you explore the universe and complete missions, you’ll earn rewards to continuously upgrade all aspects of your ship.

And that’s where the procedurally generated universe comes in clutch! Each system has unique missions, scenarios and anomalies for you to explore. From passenger rescue to cargo delivery, missions will adapt to ensure you’re constantly challenged. It is down to you to decide which routes you take through the galaxy.

Of course, in order to survive you’ll need resources like water, oxygen and fuel. Whether using drones to harvest, or lasers to drill source materials in order to create a giant mining rig, you’ll need to create a smooth operation if you’re to gain the quantity of materials you need to survive.

But as your command grows, so will the requirements to keep everyone alive and you’ll not be able to manage that on one vessel. Expansion of your fleet and design of different ships with unique capabilities is your ability to trek the stars forever!

Yet again, space exploration does not come without its dangers. Lasers, rail guns, additional armor, more maneuverability, stealth or… overwhelming fire-power. To have those and more options is in your complete control. You’ll decide what’s best for your ship and how you want to approach The Last Starship’s tactical combat.

To sum it up, The Last Starship is about to absolutely immerse you in its detailed world and gameplay. Hundreds of hours spent? That’s a given. Time to explore space!

When I saw the EA notice from Introversion, I was hoping it would come here! Looking forward to it!

It's like FTL, Space Haven, and Cosmoteer all in one...

The game looks great, but too expensive to give it a try before checking more reviews and info on it...
I wonder when the developer will sell this game to Paradox too to milk it with DLCs .
Glad to see this release here!

How about a Linux version, Introversion Software?

Man, this looks like a game I dreamt about being built.

I would love to have it expanded in the future with carriers and planetary invasion (it looks that it already has boarding).

I will definitely give it a try eventually.

Well, if the sale of Prison Architect enabled them to finance this, that's a-okay by me. PA never interested me. This, on the other hand, totally looks like my jam. :)

Good thing there's a demo, then. Bad thing the demo isn't here though.
1 - I will buy when it's got its official 1.0 release.
2 - Hopefully they don't sell it to Paradox to gunk it all up like they did Prison Architect.
3 - Reuse the soundtrack from Uplink in here! I listened to TimeLord's tracks (as in "tracker files") a ton before they were used (in rendered format) in this game.

Since the closed playtest, I've been posting a list of community resources on the Steam discussion boards. I figured you all might benefit from them as well. These are not affiliated with Introversion; just places the community has created.

* Steam guides
* Discord server (this is now technically official, but was created by the community)
* Reddit sub
* Wiki

One highlight of the wiki is the Getting Started section, which helps you build your first ship. It includes a video tutorial from Johnny_Struggles.

I never understand the erratic nature of why GOG only ever seems to get certain demos but not others (for games sold or likely to be sold here)
Also, the game forum isn't linked correctly. It just goes to the general forum and not the one for the game.

I actually enjoyed Space Haven quite a bit but it's InDev as well and progress has been like watching continents drift. I'm slightly hesitant to buy into another InDev title but the concept intrigues me enough that I'm actively considering it...
Feells like 4 days since I played demo of this one. Weird, because it was 5.
Enjoyable as-is but seemingly limited on content. I'm sure Space Haven has more to do as well as being on sale right now, though I prefer this game and hope it gets a lot of updates.
