Now that was an adventure.

SeduceMePlz: Does the GOG version of Morrowind include the Construction Set?
avatar
Thiev: yes.
If this is true, then the gamecard should make note of this, if possible, since the version of the GOTY Edition sold on Steam makes very explicit mention of the fact that this software is NOT included there.

OneFiercePuppy: Honestly, I might like it better than Skyrim if it weren't for the uncanny valley with the faces. Same reason I can't stand Alan Wake, which by all accounts is an excellent game - the faces are nightmare fuel. But mechanics-wise? It's almost as good as Daggerfall, and doesn't have Daggerfall's astonishing "occasional content mixed in with the bugs" syndrome.
avatar
IAmSinistar: I'm pretty inured to dissonant visages, after a couple decades of 3D people on the Amiga and 3DO and first Playstation. And I enjoyed the gaming mechanics of Oblivion, especially travelling into the other realm. In contrast Skyrim just seemed bog standard, and could have been a Lord of the Rings game with just a few tweaks.
o.O Where on earth are you quoting from? The post of his that you quoted does not contain this passage, and has (apparently) not been edited....

Gilozard: Arena and Daggerfall are the nicer CD versions apparently, with sound and bugfixes.
As has been mentioned, there was never any non-CD version of Daggerfall. And the version distributed on Bethesda's official Elder Scrolls site is patched up to the last official version (which, granted, is still pretty buggy). [Correction: the free elderscrolls.com download is version 1.00, but I've been told it contains the patch that'll update it to 2.13, the last official version.]

JLH: ha. I feel stupid. thank you!
avatar
Firebrand9: Don't. Unless GOG has changed how buying multiple titles and gifting works, each bundle purchased (read as multiple games in a single purchase) will produce a single gift code which will activate all the games associated with that code. I ran into this issue myself about 6 months ago.
Close: when you buy multiple items in one transaction, it [i]does[i] generate a single gift code, but anyone who goes to redeem that code will be able to choose which items they want from those contained in the code; the code can then be passed to someone else, who can choose from whatever's left, etc., etc. If I recall correctly, this change to how multi-game gift codes are handled was implemented sometime late last year.

Behead those who insult Battlespire!

touched: Daggerfall doesn't start you out as a prisoner. You're a royal emissary and you get into a shipwreck.
avatar
toxicTom: D'uh! Thanks for the correction, I didn't know. I've never played Daggerfall, only Arena, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Found out last night I actually own a physical copy of Daggerfall (budget version) that somehow has escaped my attention for years... Must have been drunk when I bought it... I really can't remember where I got it.
Wasn't you in prison and some official person (King?) came and gave you that mission in the opening cutscene?
The GOG person who did the dosbox config for Arena/Daggerfall should look at it again, they are stuttering like fuck on the current config.

dick1982: wishlisted morrowwind. one good game among a pile of shit?
I loved Battlespire. Dunno what you're on about. Also love Arena and Daggerfall.

Tarm: Wasn't you in prison and some official person (King?) came and gave you that mission in the opening cutscene?
Nope. You are a close personal friend of the Emperor, who invites you to investigate a matter of sensitive importance, delivering a letter to the Queen of Daggerfall. The matter needs discretion which is why he turns to his friend for this mission. That's why you meet in the dungeon, because no one is to know about your quest. He even says "Excuse the gloom." as his first words and explains some of this.

Why did this wait until a month after I caved and bought a physical copy of Morrowind? Oh well, I'm glad everyone else can grab it now, glad to see Fallout finally back again too!

Ah. It was the "meet in dungeon" part that confused my memory.
Great! Happy to see those games here.

GOG.com: --The Elder Scrolls: Arena - free with any Bethesda purchase.
--The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall - free with any Bethesda purchase, too.
Will those two be available later after the discount promotion ends with any Bethesda purchase as well? Is Arena the same version that is available on or is it the full CD version? Is the Daggerfall release the [url=http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files]patched version?

Daggerfall is the CD version too?
I'm asking because free version on Bethesda's site is around 120 Megabytes.

I don't think there was ever a floppy version of Daggerfall. It's 120 MBs here as well.

Daggerfall was only released on CD, when you unpack the 120mb file it expands into about 500mb :-)

EDIT: Just checked my archive.
