Choose your battles, paths and skills as you explore a world ravaged by war. Gather and manage your army of beasts, collect resources and expand your city. The Dragoness: Command of the Flame is available NOW!
Didn't think it was going to happen this week. Finally... a decent release.

Such a pity it's infected with the dreaded roguelite disease. I'd love a new HoMM/King's Bounty style game.

Swedrami: ?
in development

I don't pay to beta test.

Anyway, I didn't mean there are any other games like that out there, just that one more would always be welcome.

Me neither, just pointing out that there's a new HoMM/King's Bounty style game on the way.
Not too far out as well - "version 1.0 sometime this autumn", according to the roadmap.

There's also Fanstratics (Wishlist entry), "a spiritual successor, from the lead game designer of Heroes of Might and Magic III".
This is going to take quite a while longer until final release, it looks like.

Not sure, but this seems very solid. And the system requirements are quite modest in todays time. Hmmm... what to do, what to do?
"roguelite twist"

What and why? :/

Because it sells and/or the developers thought it would be neat. I mean, duh? Why did you think? Just because a few loud people get triggered by the word "roguelike" doesn't mean they're in any way representative of the audience. Anyway, according to a Steam review:
a single “roguelite” feature (slightly randomized starting hero choice at the start of each mission).
Another elaborates on this (listed as a positive):
For every scenario, you got some different ssome additional quests with some rewards and you can replay the scenario to get them all
Here is an almost year old (short) review, but I think in this time some things were changed:

This is more actual, I think: a first impression from a quite big Youtuber (130k subs):

Oh yeah, the Heroes V clone thing.

As I said in the announcement thread - really not a fan of the wooden, impactless combat animations.

But might still get it when I eventually get very desperate for a Heroes-like.
Looks interesting. Will give the demo that is on Steam a whirl.

Songs of Conquest still looks like the best newer HoMM-likes. Loved the early review/impression video Sseth made where in usual fashion he tries his best to abuse the shit out of the game mechanics. Also it's still going for $15 right now. From development updates and everything it looks like it's coming on rather well.
