The Broken 4th Wall from Outer Space

The Deadly Tower of Monsters, a self-conscious action-platformer set in a huge B-movie set, is now available DRM-free on GOG.com, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 33% launch discount.

Ah, the magic of low-budget motion pictures. Who wouldn't love the chance to peer behind the curtain and see how these fantastic creations are brought to life by a crew of talented actors with bills to pay and their visionary director who probably wrote the script at the back of a cereal box. Then used that same cereal box to create the sound effects for a flurry of bats, footsteps on a gravel yard, and a malfunctioning space-engine. Before painting over it to make a convincing death-ray gun.

Styled as a '70s b-movie and containing all the wonderful clichés that marked their greatness, The Deadly Tower of Monsters lets you follow the incredible adventures of a dashing space explorer, a plucky space-princess, and a space-robot companion. Together they will clobber and disintegrate impossible space-foes, pull off breathtaking space-stunts, and navigate ridiculously-looking space-props. All under the hilarious commentary of a spaced-out director who is watching their spectacular exploits on DVD. Who says true art isn't born by limitations?

Press Play, suspend your disbelief, and climb The Deadly Tower of Monsters, DRM-free on GOG.com. Don't forget to also check out the fantastic Digital Calendar, offered as a free bonus goodie. The 33% launch discount will last until April 28, 12:59 PM UTC.

In the press:
"I could totally sell this!" - Ed Wood
"Graaaahhh! Roarrrgggg!" - Godzilla
"Still needs more cowbell..." - Kevin Spacey impersonating Christopher Walken

Hi guys. ACE Team dev here. Really happy to connect with the GOG community now. We'll be around these parts, at the GOG Deadly Tower of Monsters forum and other parts. Feel free to drop us a line about anything ACE Team related and we'll follow up.

I hope everyone that plays the game really enjoys it!
I don't know... the idea and the setting sound better than the game looks. Wishlisted for now. I'll wait for some opinions, search for some reviews, and then we'll see.
I wonder how competently this game maintains the '50s sci-fi vibe?

Does it support GoG Achievements?

Hi guys, for those concerned about the game's execution, it has like a 94% approval rate on Steam. So I'm confident enough to say that the game has had a really good reception among the existing players. You can always check for trailers/reviews and such on the web.

The director commentary is what really steals the show here.

That's actually what has me a little confused. It looks 50s, but the description says 70s.

Yeah, exactly. I can't put my finger on it yet, but a lot of things about this game just look off somehow.

Maybe it's because there's too much action and not enough walking around, pushing buttons, and waiting for doors to open? :P

YAY! Purchased.
Nice release, got it on launch and it was an enjoyable experience. Narrator(director) was really good and the way he explains some things to the studio assistant was great.

andysheets1975: This is totally my kind of thing. At long last we have a companion to Escape From the Planet of the Robot Monsters.
Still have that game on my Amiga.
Another 70s b-movie fan, so colour me intrigued, and the trailer was fun!

But it says "action-platformer", so I have a question.

Is it heavy on timed+reflexes actions?
