Looks interesting, but falls into the "what indie developers think retro looked like" category.

no old game? ......................

anyway back to this game: The Darkside Detective

12.99 list price is a little high, i dont mind pixel point and click games, but they forgot to ad 2 pixels for the eyes and a few for the mouth (even Zak McKracken had a face)

I searched youtube cause i always want to see what a game looks like, cause playable demos are extremely rare these days, found a case 1 video: 17min 23 seconds (thats not much)
Seems the game has 6 case so that makes about 180 min or 3 hours of gameplay if you know how to solve it.
(3 hours for a game at 12.99 is maybe okay ( 9.99 fits better but an average hidden object is also at least 3 hours worh of play and is 4.99 or 6.99 at release sale.)

So i guess this game might end on the wishlist until next years sale ( 2018 summer or winter sale perhaps)

I also noticed the Daedalic game: 29.99 and no % off , its a novel/book like point and click, i watched some videos and it looks quite good... they claim a quad core will do for recommended (mine is a 2.67 GHZ quad)
So on the wishlist they will go and stay till 2018 summer sale or so, maybe at 12.99 i will buy it)

Next week maybe a good old game on thursday ? let's hope so...

Yup, i noticed the same thing, but didn't know how to say it, you wrote it beautifully , couldn't have written it better myself
sad times for old good games lateley,..... ah well maybe we will see some good games someday ....

Anyway the worst thing is when trying to bring as much new games as possible , some very bad games might just slip through the quality detector unnoticed.... it does save a lot of money, thats true, i saved 100 or more euros, no buy at any sale this year and last year seems i have all the good games i want to play and can play on my pc.

Guess its time to check for mor new casual games ( >450 already(cd/dvd and > 600 digital online(drm free of course)
cause i need to play and also buy some new games now and then :D

It seems I'm the only one who likes this blocky pixel art.
To learn more about the game you may download the

DEMO.

Why is there no DEMO here on GOG.com ???

Me too. Reminds me of The Last Door, which I totally loved. Although this seems a lot less serious.

Cool. I'll check it out. Thanks.

I actually don't mind The way it looks at all. Atari 2600 looked even less detailed if my memory is correct. It's an interesting style. Even if it has a budget feel to some, the game might still be fun. I have no idea but i will try the demo.

Might want to also look into the link provided by gixgox, the offline/desktop version will probably perform better.
Have fun!

Just because the movie "Pixels" sucked the the sweat off a dead man's balls, doesn't me we should be so critical of the games.

I'm not saying this game is any good, it might be shit, but I love "The Last Door" games and several of the other "retro" pixelated games here, so I think the least we could do is give it a chance.

Of course, that price is a little high, so I'll wait till it drops before I "give it a chance". :P

Don't know, this is typically a steam game, steam has dozens of games like this, and usually they have more demos aswell, BUT the bad thing about steam is that 75% or more is shovelware :D
there are so many steam games that are very bad, and many devs just dont respond, 2 companies on steam reply very fast: Artifex Mundi and Alawar ( beholder game) are 2 of the best, fastest and customer friendly devs and publishers.

Anyway the good thing is that the shovelware games have devs that seem to reply extremely fast, but maybe thats to compensate for all the shovelware developed.
