Look over there! It's a three-headed…tentacle?

Celebrated classics The Curse of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion (-33%) return, DRM-free on GOG.com.
To celebrate, The Secret of Monkey Island: SE and Monkey Island 2: SE are 65% off until March 26, 2PM UTC. Get them together with Curse of Monkey Island for an additional 25% bundle discount.

The Curse of Monkey Island
Meet Guybrush Threepwood. He's stranded mid-ocean atop a bumper car, he's hungry, thirsty, and much, much taller than you remember him. Yet still as determined as ever to save Elaine from the clutches of his undead nemesis, the evil pirate LeChuck. After his wedding proposal goes terribly awry, he will join a barbershop quartet, curb the enthusiasm of a demonic skull bent on world domination, and quite possibly die while trying to lift The Curse of Monkey Island. All in a day's work.

Maniac Mansion
Oh no, Sandy got abducted by the eccentric, quite possibly deranged Dr. Fred! Surely this has nothing to do with the comet that landed outside his Maniac Mansion 20 years ago or the two sentient tentacles running around the premises, right? Just in case, though, Dave picks two friends (out of seven in total - Dave is a popular guy!) and ventures into Ron Gilbert's classic point & click adventure, which reshaped the whole genre and later inspired a little sequel called Day of the Tentacle.

NewPyk: Yep. But except few Amiga version there is none no PC/Mac games. No Apple II, no C64. So, yeah, Labyrinth will be availible only if GOG changes to Good Old Emulated Games ;)
Neo Geo games: https://www.gog.com/news/release_15_snk_neogeo_classics

And all Dosbox games are emulated too.

Fandi: I can't use the skeleton arm with that!

We'll surely avoid scurvy if we all eat an orange.

Sorry I forgot about those Neo Geo PORTS, this is essentially the same thing as those "Amiga" games ;)
Yeah dosbox is an emulator, but still it only runs PC versions of the games :D
Maybe when Labyrinth will be supported by ScummVM things will change but since there is NON(?) ScummVM versions of games except for DOS/Windows I wouldn't count on that.
EDIT: Ups FM-TOWNS version of Zak is here but I thing it is here only becouse there is also a DOS version :)
But I would love to see Labyrinth here!

PaterAlf: As far as I know there was no PC version of The Labyrinth.

teceem: Not all GOG games are based on "PC versions". ;-)
avatar
dudalb: True, and GOG should have Escape for the sake of completeness, but be prepared for a huge let down. Eecape is a massive disappointment.
avatar
teceem: Opinions...
I think it's better than Tales (in general, not the interface).
That´s completely okay, I still would like to see it here :)

I don't get your point. Emulated is emulated, why does it matter to you what the original platform is? (except if there's a version that's superior to the ones on other platforms)

btw. there's no such thing as a "PC version". A PC is a personal computer - Even Android phones (e.g.) can be considered "PCs". But you probably just mean (pre intel-Mac) x86 version. :-)

Me too, and I'd buy it - even though I have the boxed version.

oh wow. picking up curse immediately. thanks all who helped bring the game here!
I'm probably the only person alive that would have preferred to see Escape than Curse (Monkey Island 2 is still the best though). While the humor in it is indeed pretty good Curse just started that unfortunate turn to cartoony rapid fire jokes and Guybrush being an actual badass that ultimately resulted in the awful Tales of Monkey island. At least Escape did try to go back to that ironic low key ironic meta-weirdness and Guybrush as an incompetent borderline fraudulent protagonist that made the first two games great.

OH WELL. Still great it's here though and maybe we'll get Escape soon.
Great releases, bought them ASAP to support more Lucas classics.

It would be REALLY NICE if GOG included the original versions of Monkey 1 and 2, since they have different intros and some other quirks.

Hey, I liked Tales. Not as much as 1-3, but still. And I like that Guybrush evolved a bit. He's still a doofus and in fact the entire plot of both Curse and Tales is set in motion by his mistakes, and he still makes more along the way, and what we see of him changing and being maybe more badass as you put it is welcome. After everything he goes through and we along with him it's nice to see a character grow.

Breja: Now I wonder if we'll ever see The Black Cauldron and Labirynth games here.

Ah, that sucks. I love the movie, so I'd love to try the game. Oh well, there's still other Disney-stuff we need here. The Hercules platformer was pretty great for example. I liked it way more than the movie.

GOG strikes again! Nice to finally have the option to get this gem digitally. I still have the CD but no CD drive any more. I usually wait for sales, but this time I voted with my money and bought it instantly. So much childhood nostalgia with Curse of Monkey Island <3

I played it on my C64 when I was a kid. It's by far not as polished as the later LucasArts games, but it was fun to play. And I still remember how astonished I was when the game turned from a text adventure into a point and click adventure.
/me <3 GOG and Disney. It's finally here! The imho best Monkey Island game (must be because this one was the first one I played). <3 Outstanding game for that time with amazing graphics.
Not buying now (most of my 200+ games here are still needs me lol)

But it's imminent that I'll transfer some money to Gog and Mickey soon.

BTW... I'm slightly (very slightly) disappointed that this is not a Remastered Version, like the first two, DoTT and Full Throttle. But oh well, it's beautiful still.
I'll need to think about whether I buy Monkey Island 3 immediately, given my usual policy of never buying at $5 or less and at least 50% off, but bravo nonetheless.

(I already have all three of the games in my ScummVM. MI3 from my childhood CD-ROMs, the original Maniac Mansion from the CD-ROM copy of Day of the Tentacle I eBayed, and Maniac Mansion 2 extracted from the copy of DOTT Remastered that I later bought here.)

I wouldn't go that far. Calling a smartphone a PC dilutes the term in the same way that calling it a palmtop would. ("Palmtop PC" refers to a specific form factor that has a shape like a laptop, but is pocketable. Examples include the GPD Win. It used to be a significantly more popular form factor before the iPhone stole everyone's interest.)
