Look over there! It's a three-headed…tentacle?

Celebrated classics The Curse of Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion (-33%) return, DRM-free on GOG.com.
To celebrate, The Secret of Monkey Island: SE and Monkey Island 2: SE are 65% off until March 26, 2PM UTC. Get them together with Curse of Monkey Island for an additional 25% bundle discount.

The Curse of Monkey Island
Meet Guybrush Threepwood. He's stranded mid-ocean atop a bumper car, he's hungry, thirsty, and much, much taller than you remember him. Yet still as determined as ever to save Elaine from the clutches of his undead nemesis, the evil pirate LeChuck. After his wedding proposal goes terribly awry, he will join a barbershop quartet, curb the enthusiasm of a demonic skull bent on world domination, and quite possibly die while trying to lift The Curse of Monkey Island. All in a day's work.

Maniac Mansion
Oh no, Sandy got abducted by the eccentric, quite possibly deranged Dr. Fred! Surely this has nothing to do with the comet that landed outside his Maniac Mansion 20 years ago or the two sentient tentacles running around the premises, right? Just in case, though, Dave picks two friends (out of seven in total - Dave is a popular guy!) and ventures into Ron Gilbert's classic point & click adventure, which reshaped the whole genre and later inspired a little sequel called Day of the Tentacle.

timmy010: i disagree

darthspudius: What was good about it? It was pretty lame by comparison to the other three and the ones that followed.
I agree;Escape was a huge let down from the first three games. I guess GOG should include it just for the sake of completeness, but I would not bother to play it again.
avatar
Leroux: The initial price was probably another screw up by GOG. Current one still seems fair enough.
I guess just figured it out. It seems that the initial price shown on fromt page was the actual bundle price (-25% / -24% in Germany) because I already own the other two MI games. Now it just shows the undiscounted price but it's still discounted when looking at the gamecard.

Breja: I know it's not a popular opinion, but I think The Curse of Monkey Island is the best of the entire series. I have a physical copy that works fine with ScummVM, so I won't be buying a GOG one, at least not now, but I encourage everyone who doesn't yet own it to buy the shit out of it.

avatar
IwubCheeze: It wasn't that bad. Sure, it is one of the weaker games in the series but it wasn't horrible.
avatar
Breja: I agree it wasn't horrible, and yet it's the only one in the series I never finished. Given how much I love that series, that says a lot.
I have a phusical copy I use with Scumm, but at five bucks I just bought the GOG version as a backup.

fortune_p_dawg: bought and bought... oh, and ion storm too!

thanks gog, you guys have been kicking ass lately! keep it up!

Elmofongo: Still waiting for some goddamn Ubisoft games already.

Where's Rainbow Six 3?! Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and the remaining Splinter Cell games?
Forget Rainbow 6 3, You can buy that on Steam. (although I would like to see it on GOG).
I want the expansion for the original Rainbow Six game, the seconde R6 game Rogue Speat and it's expansion, and the other games using the original Rainbow Six engines. You cannot buy those new anywhere, and it's hard to geth tem to run on a modern computer. I think GOG should give priority to games not avaaiable elsewhere and that need a lot of tweaking to run on a modern computer.

Maybe we will finally get the remaining Star Wars games.....Force Commander in particular.

Thank you, GOG, this is very pleasant surprise - of course, instabuy, both of them :)
No only Escape from Monkey Island is missing and series will be completed :)
And my day just got 100% better

True, and GOG should have Escape for the sake of completeness, but be prepared for a huge let down. Eecape is a massive disappointment.

Breja: Now I wonder if we'll ever see The Black Cauldron and Labirynth games here.
As far as I know there was no PC version of The Labyrinth.
This is THE BEST thing ever! Hip, hip hurra Curse of Monkey Island!
You're as repulsive as a monkey in a negligee! ;)

Maniac Mansion is also very cool! :D
Price has dropped by 10p is this going to be refunded automatically for everyone or do we need to contact support? Business is business

Not all GOG games are based on "PC versions". ;-)

Opinions...
I think it's better than Tales (in general, not the interface).

Yep. But except few Amiga version there is none no PC/Mac games. No Apple II, no C64. So, yeah, Labyrinth will be availible only if GOG changes to Good Old Emulated Games ;)
While I picked up Curse immediately, I'm not sure whether to get Maniac Mansion since I've already got it in the DoTT remaster, which can be relatively easily extracted.
Bought, gogdangit, bought!

Thanks a bunch, GOG. My CDs of Curse went awol years ago and I've been missing all those wacky characters. :)
