Tale as old as time.

The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com.
More than 100 years later, evil is back, as it tends to do. Pick one of four available classes (yes, you don't have to be a bard) and before you know it you're be crawling through cavernous dungeons or the legendary city of Skara Brae, solving puzzles, bopping beasties in turn-based fashion and having a grand ol' time. Along with your party and your shiny gear, of course.

Fancy for some tasty extras?
The Premium edition comes loaded with an Art Book, Songbook, digital novellas, several in-game items, and more.
Platinum also includes the game's soundtrack and if you're new to the saga, the Ultimate Edition will provide you with a copy of the remastered Bard's Tales trilogy.

Looking for something different to scratch that RPG itch? The Torchlight and Tales of Maj'Eyal games are now on sale until September 22, 10pm UTC.

Have fun ;)
I can only say positive things about inXile. They gave me my BT4 Kickstarter money back, no questions asked, after their boss gave that imbecile interview to Ian Miles Cheong. But I guess would I have remained a backer, I too would be pissed off right now. These graphics in Unreal Engine with these sys requirements? Huh. Bold, I'll say.

Narakir: I've no idea why people are whining, I got a mail from crowdox and I had everything promised, there's no upgrade tier needed and depending on your tier its a better deal than buying it new right now. The only issue is that this game should have taken another month, it needs a few fixes and some optimisation tweaks, except you don't release a mid-range quickstarter project in October when all the AAA and getting out for the Xmas period, its a commercial suicide.

As for kickstarter, I expected people to know the deal already, you're not giving them money to have the game you want to be made, you've giving money to a developer so they can make a game you will like.

Tintler: It's all about preservation. I don't know how long this crowdox site will be around. It can be shutdown in near future.
I want everything in one place GoG or Steam. Why is this so hard for you to understand? I don't want everything to be seperated. That's why I don't use Origin or Uplay there is just too much platform. InXile scammed who backed the game. If people knew they were going to treat backers like second-class citizen no one would back this game, I wouldn't.
The question of if CrowdOx will be around is the same question as if GOG or Steam will be still around, why don't you contact InExile and ask them to solve that issue instead of rable rousing on this forum ?

Darvond: Brian Fargo announced something of a stretch goal, that I do hope he hits.
Good idea, but not if InXile is involved. At that point is better to let Interplay disappear.
I started avoiding supporting InXile since the the Torment release. They screwed up before (wasteland 2) but they were given the benefit of the doubt. But it is clear that there's a pattern on how they costantly make the same mistakes, neglect the feedbacks they get and costantly takes action that inconvenience their backers and customers. They don't understand how crowdfunding works, and in my opinion they should not benefit from it. The only way them to be professional and pro consumer is to make them lose the money they are not worth of by not supporting them. There are plenty of promising authors out there, that maybe better deserve those money.
After seeing reviews and some gameplays...not interested at all. Also, console design on top of a already questionable game design.

About the other "sneaky" deal, Tales of Maj'Eyal, someone knows something new about the problem with the last GOG patch (offline item vault not working, bonus class, etc)? It's a bug or it is made on purpouse? Because i had the game on my wishlist but if now it requires online activation...i will not be interested anymore.

Thank you!

WOHO WOW WOW WOW !

Quite nice . I got a ban from both Steam and InXile forums. Seems those guys are really pissed from truth.

My ban reason was wishing correct rewards for my tier. OK I learnt my lesson though. If those people goes
bankruptcy there must be a reason. Even supporting them is a shame in the first place.

You are ignominy of Kickstarter, InXile.

You are ignominy of Kickstarter, Brian Fargo.

Hope they will vanish from the business soon.

Cheers guys. I am done.

AlienMind: Does this JRPG thing has auto-resolve .. or.. a "i don't want to fight these mobs, just run away" function?
hmmm.. never mind, browsed through half of the game on a lets play and it looks boring.

reative00: I'm not saying those people deserve to be ripped off, but if you still throw money at them after the fiasco that was TToN then you need to do better research on stuff you're paying for.
FYI:

BT Kickstarter ended July 2015.

TToN released February 28, 2017.

Backers pledged to BT long before the TToN fiasco.

I'm finding InXile's overall actions concerning the kickstarter backers to be pretty strange. Won't it be easier just offering keys/codes to the right tiers for each backer? Even if the tier isn't really on the dot, just upgrade it to the nearest tier as a gift for the backers, since without them the game wouldn't have been possible? Only for physical extras, extra handling by a third party would be better required.

tomimt: Wasn't the Resnarkled more of a Steam related update? Adding achievements and what not?
It was more than that. They fixed Linux version bugs, for instance emulated games are supposed to be working now.

ValamirCleaver: Here's a copy of the e-mail I sent to CrowdOx & inXile :

I was given a GOG key for the Standard Edition when I should have received a key for the Ultimate Edition based on the crowd funding tier for which I paid. I expect to have this oversight addressed & rectified in a prompt fashion. Having to download all the "extras" from another host site separate from the main game is very inconvenient, also I have no idea for how long this separate host is going to make the rest of the game for which I paid available for the long term. If my previously stated concerns are not addressed in a timely fashion then this will be the last inXile, Brian Fargo or CrowdOx related game I ever back/crowd fund.
Please post an update about how it develops.

Now there is a patch roadmap:

... how I hate this word.
I totally lost my trust in inXile after both Wasteland 2 and Torment, even by setting aside some their statements on gaming in general that I really disagreed with. It doesn't surprise me I was right in not giving them another chance.
As someone else stated, there are plenty of better people that deserve the aid of crowdfunding. Fargo can borrow money from his other huge family businesses and start taking some risks for a change.
Let's just... stop financing old glories' promises and concentrate of fresher takes on games.

Up until now the best kickstarted games I played came from new faces in the media.

I hate the idea of fudning games of already working studios (I mean, Kickstarter is supposed to kickSTART something, not to kickSUSTAIN something), but at least certain companies - like Larian - showed they're actually using money to make their games better, and inExile showed - yet another time - that they don't give a fuck about their core fanbase.

Three years of development and they'll add basic functions after release? Wow. Speechless.

Holy fuck you're right. My apologies in that case, as I thought BT Kickstarter was post-TToN fiasco and didn't check before writing this post.

I hope this is the final straw tho, and people won't fund their mediocre crap packed as "nostalgia" anymore. But we'll probably see after reviews of Wasteland 3.

That's still unclear. There haven't been any updates since then so we don't know whether or not this is a bug, an oversight or whether it's working as intended. In every build up until the current one those features worked perfectly fine, so I'm still hoping that it's a bug.
