I'm surprised no one starter a wish list entry for part 3 yet.
It's great to see it here without further ado :). Once I am done with games I have been playing, I am going for it. 1st installment was a delight.

gamesfreak64: i have a steam account mostly casualgames (small but nice games)
these games cant be compared to real gameslike we have here, but the casualgames are fun nontheless.

As far as i know these achievemnest will be put online at steam. meaning you ned a connction to put them there, i thought we at GoG the more old fashioned and 'grown up' who played since the 286 pc... dont need achievenments, or dumb tradingcards and more stuff like that.
Problem is that if you want to add some achievenmenst or similar stuff vhances might be the game wont work: i have order of the trone and that seems to be trying to connect to achievements in the galaxyclient, at least thats what the error claims. I downlaoded the client but the achievenments was greyed out (maybe not incorporated)
Anyway, the point is : if you have games that arent multiplayer online or mmo, i believen extras like hof and achievenments and other silly things arent needed in a good game, to me these seem to fit more to younger kids, up to 15 or 16.

Why in heavens name should we want to show off the 1 billion coins collected? or show a nice cup with your login name next to a png or animgif in the HOF on a server like steam?
Sorry but i dont get that so thats why i dont fancy nor favor extra stuff in any game: games are games if you want achievements or so the buy casualgames on steam or play free online casual games at steam and your achivenments will be saved on the big cloud for anyone to be seen.

Local achievements on your own pc is also redundant cause we will be the only ones to see these.
Hih scores aswell: as long as its not online in the big cloud and its not on a machine in a 711 (arcade games in old fashioned box with big score list) it has no use.
Finally: i dont feel the urge or need to show my gazillion scores to show off how godly i game :D
I can understand that young kids might need that, but grownups who need confirmation by having achievenments or highscores online? nah thats nothing for me.
I am old fashioned gamer local on my pc , maybe a lan with family but thats it, no mass online games.

QueenFrostIX: It's not about how useful something is but if the game has achievements everywhere else, it should have them here too. Same treatment is what I'm really asking for.
same treatment?
i can understand that but compare it with average day in life;
lets say 5 people in the same street lets say have the exact same education, exact level or degree , and lets say even the same iq, you will notice more often then not, that these 5 people will probably do the same things / have same job, but
there wages (monetary compensation paid by an employer to an employee in exchange for work done)
will totally different, so same treatment would be fair but most of time this wont happen.

Colour me surprised.
I was one of the people which discussed their decision against GOG personally with them. The responses were kind but dismissive since they made GOG directly responsible for the pirating of "The Banner Saga 1".
I told them, that it will be pirated from Steam anyway and making the DRM-free version "pirate exclusive" will just cost them sales and reputation. They never really responded to this argument, maybe it sunk in.

Unfortunately, I still need a Linux port to be convinced, preferably for both parts but at least the already existing one for the first (brilliant) game.

I wonder why people rather support a 15 year old Windows OS than a current Linux. oO
They're even sharing the game's engine with other devs, so releasing a Linux port shouldn't be a big problem, it wouldn't even need to get official support if the engine would be completely OpenSource.

The Banner Saga 1 is a great piece of art although indeed very depressing - I enjoyed it a lot.
I'm glad that a buddy gifted it to me on christmas and I will replay it as soon as the Linux port arrives on GOG.

PS: The regional pricing is unacceptable, but GOG's customers seem to already have adapted to this bs, thanks GOG for the generous store credit option, it's a nice gesture but not solving the issue for me.

PPS: I deleted my savestate when they announced that Banner Saga 2 wouldn't be DRM-free anywhere... now I learn that it can be imported into the second game, narf.

Wow, their decision to make this Steam-exclusive must have bitten them in the ass with a mighty vengeance, given how quickly they did a 180 on their initial "No plans for a DRM-free version"-stance. Sorry, but I won't be getting this until they release part 3 here as well. Like the old sage once said: "Fool me one, shame on... shame on you!"
Good job GOG bringing so fast this game here. Good job.
Instabuy for me. A lot of hype to continue with the Saga.

Aaaand...bought. Too bad that Stoic seemed to have shot themselves in the foot with their initial PR regarding the DRM-free version, not to mention that when they do decide to release it on GOG (due to bad Steam sales) they do it during a massive sale AND on the same week when Vtm:B, one of the most awaited games of the GOG community, was also released. Someone get these people a proper marketing/PR employee; they seem to fail at it royally.

If it doesn´t sell well on GOG this time we shouldn´t expect Part III coming here in time/ at all...

TheTome56: Really? After everything the devs said about how releasing the first game on GoG caused their piracy rates to explode?

I wonder what changed their minds?
Guess I missed that Controversy some how. Not been following a lot of my backed Kickstarter games due to lack of time. Hell still haven't got around to playing the first banner saga. Didn't even sadly get enough time to design my banner for the original release. I need so many more hours in the day.

Disappointed with no FLAC soundtrack. Maybe that is exclusive to Austin and his Bandcamp page. So I'll probably just pickup the standard edition here and soundtrack there.

Somewhere in my email I noticed I have steam key for banner saga 2 on steam which I haven't got around to redeeming either.
I backed the first banner saga on kickstarter and it was such a pain in the ass trying to get a gog key from the devs. They eventually caved but it left a bad taste in my mouth. The game was great though.

Notwithstanding their straight up stupidity in initially refusing to release this on gog, I will still buy it (immediately after posting this). I want to reward the devs for (eventually) supporting drm free games.

This is a bit of a double edged sword. On the one hand, yes I can see the point of buying now when we've been so vocal about wanting a DRM-free version.

On the other hand, rushing to throw our money at these guys after they've demonstrated that we're really nothing more than an afterthought to them (and that's being generous, IMO), is just saying "Hey, it's cool to treat us like shit, so please, can I have some more, sir?"

The whole thing sticks in my craw. I'll buy the game, for sure, but I've still not decided if I'll grab it right away or wait for the inevitable discount.

I bought the second game hoping that, based on the awful Steam sales, the devs had learned how piracy actually works and that a DRM-free version of the third game upon release will be not up for debate. (And obviously because I liked the first part.) Which is sort of important to me, because TBS fills a gap in the gaming market which I do not come by very often, and I'd like to see more games like this from them later in the future. *If* they change their stance on DRM-free versions, that is.

Obviously, for people who did not find the game so great/who like other genres in gaming better, TBS is not a priority and I can understand reactions like yours as well. I think the problem might be that Stoic somehow do not realise that they are creating a product for a niche market, and believe that somehow TBS is an AAA trilogy in the making, and therefore think that they can afford such arrogance as completely disregarding the DRM-free community.

However, for Stoic to consider GOG a profitable market in the future, the game would have to sell a lot better than it does now, but I will definitely not try to convince anyone to buy the game if they still feel let down by the devs (and rightfully so).
I can only speculate, but had Stoic not treated customers wanting a DRM-free release the way they had, perhaps the game would be selling a lot better now here. As I wrote above, the timing of the GOG release was also rather unfortunate, what with this bundle sale going on and all. Or maybe the fanbase of the first game was even smaller than I had thought.
