The caravan has all my friends / They'll stay with me until the end

The Banner Saga 2, which continues the captivating tale of your people's perilous journey, is available now for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com.

You knew that your choices would come back to haunt you, didn't you. But you made them anyway, because that's what Viking leaders do. Many have died, and more will perish still, yet the caravan must press on. The future holds a thin promise of salvation but the present requires sacrifices, gut-wrenching decisions, brutal turn-based encounters, and a watchful eye over all your caravan's needs. New characters, a new race of Horseborn, and a more complex story will make your journey even more challenging and rewarding than before, while your wise leadership skills shall once again prove just as important as your tactical prowess.

Continue your epic march through this vast Viking land of legends in The Banner Saga 2, DRM-free on GOG.com. Those entranced by the evocative Soundtrack should pick it up either separately or as part of the Deluxe Edition.

Choices you made in The Banner Saga carry over to the sequel. If you haven't played it yet, this is the perfect time to begin your Banner Saga and grab the original for 50% off until May 2, 2:59 PM UTC.

In the press:
"As beautiful and tactical as the first, but with greater variety in combat and story" - IGN
"A gorgeous, challenging strategy game that's starting to tell one hell of a story" - Kotaku
I wonder what the chance is that Stoic will do right by their Backers.
(EDIT: Thankfully, the answer appear to be "Yes" based on their latest update.)

the dev's are dismissive, frustrating, and a bit ignorant. and yet, i want them to succeed because they make great games. that said, i wouldn't buy a wet turd from them off steam, or with any sort of drm for that matter. good on them for getting a drm-free build together, bad on them for it taking their game doing poorly on steam to get the banner saga 2 here.

bought because i love the first. hopefully part 3 is here at launch.

Ahh, The Banner Saga. Yet another game with a Linux version available elsewhere.
Really? After everything the devs said about how releasing the first game on GoG caused their piracy rates to explode?

I wonder what changed their minds?
Ah I guess it's the 19th of April already, how time flies.

poor steam sales, a good chunk of their backers (who expected a drm-free release) were pissed, etc.

Correct.

One important thing for all Banner Saga players to know is that the game progress from Banner Saga 1 transfers to Banner Saga 2. Just use the final save file from Banner Saga 1.

Ouch. Bad timing

They weren't making a lot of sales on Steam so they decide to release it during a huge GoG bundle sale that takes up the majority of the front page

Big Pharma did the same thing when it released during the first Bethesda releases on GoG as well. From what I recall, it didn't do too well in sales here because of that

Best of luck to them, but they shouldn't have held off
Finally! Thanks GOG for persuading skills and Stoic for ability to change mind :D
