Survive under Mars-ial law.

Tharsis, a turn-based strategy about braving the inhuman conditions of space, is available now DRM-free on GOG.com for Windows and Mac, with a 50% launch discount.

Space, the final frontier. Of sanity and sanitation. A micrometeoroid storm strikes and cripples the mission sent to investigate a mysterious signal from Mars - your mission. Now you are out of food, out of control, out of hope. But full of desperate ideas.

Your job is to make the tough calls, roll the dice, and hope for the best while expecting the worst. The number of casualties will grow, along with the survivors' anxiety, mutual distrust and tolerance towards questionable eating habits. Humanity is not welcome on the volcanic regions of Mars, but then what is the purpose of these intriguing, enigmatic transmissions? If you are ever going to find out, you must survive long enough and not let your crew be consumed by the brutality of space. Or each other.

Exercise harsh decision-making in the unforgiving conditions of Tharsis, DRM-free on GOG.com. The 50% discount will last for the duration of the Summer Sale.

omega64: I forgot to ask if what material the dice are made of.
Some dice were originally knucklebones, which is still slang for dice in parts of the US. So cannibalism can be a handy way to obtain a set of dice.

Weird, but interesting. :D
This picture just did it for me. A game on space exploration meeting trouble. Have to give it a chance.
This is a great game and I highly recommend it. It is really a board game though, so if you would like some fun of this type this game delivers. It is very unforgiving though, downright aggravating. It will frustrate you a lot due to bad rolls and escalating negative events, but it's a laid back experience since no one is pressuring you on time.

Just check some of these gameplay videos and see if you are into it. I really liked it the first time I saw it. It's also pretty new, so at 50% off it's a nice deal.

Space game + turn based = good. Racing against the clock is tiresome even if I do that too.

I will put on wishlist for now as I just used up my last money on eggs (real life food).
I'm a bit surprised that this game wasn't considered too niche for GOG. I mean, dices and antropophagy, 30 votes on the whishlist.... will wsihlist it for the time being, until I read more about how this game feels and plays ...
Looks fantastic.
Checked out reviews and some Let's Plays and with the discount.............this is definitely a goer for me :) Thank you devs thank you GoG.
The minimum and recommended system requirements for Mac are switched :)
Woah, those game mechanics sound quite TRPG-y, anyone here played this?

Pieman streamed in on the GOGcom twitch channel yesterday, in case that helps you:

For me it seems to be too much randomness than actual skill needed in this game, like: everyting is fine (you throw good results with the dices) and than suddenly the game throws some f*** you at you.

omega64: I prefer my cannibalism without dice thank you very much.

NuffCatnip: I agree, digesting them is a pain. :/
Have you tried cubed dice? They're more easily digested I imagine...

Well, if you had resorted to cannibalism you'd have tasty meat, possibly a brand new knucklebones die set AND money for games! Clearly the superior option.
This game feels a little bit like 'Gods will be watching'... except it doesn't suck.

The gameplay challange is completely transparent and the story both is effectively presented and competently written. It is a hard game, but it is not unfair. Like FTL, it throws a lot of problems at you at once but you are also in control of your actions and the game straight up tells you what is going on at all times. Your job is to figure out how to untangle the knot.

It is about information overload, but it is turn-based so you could theoretically work out the thousands of possible outcomes of every turn and pick the one with the best odds. It is a very good game of dice. The unitiated may say that games with overtly random elements are shallow and unfair, but it is absolutely not the case. You're dealing with an ever evolving situation that isn't carefully scripted by a human designer, you just need to weigh risks, leave resources available to exploit windows of opportunity and prioritise/sacrifice.

It is a supremely strategic game.
