Stand in the way between your territory and destruction.

First-person sci-fi title Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, the 1996 combat simulator, has just come exclusively to GOG.com and is available DRM-free for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

You, Nikola ap Io, are the one that will lead Strike Force Centauri into combat as what first seemed like the typical covert operation turns into a full-out assault. Choose between multiple types of suits, weapons, assistance modules and squad mates to follow your orders as the game pits you against all sorts of enemies - from pirates through psycho clones to tanks.

A variety of scenarios, weapons, mech and flight sequences, and more is what you’ll find in the classic Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri, now exclusively available and DRM-free at GOG.com.

What does the press say?

“A breakthrough in outdoor 3-D action sims, Terra Nova gives mech games and flight sims something to aspire to.” -- GameSpot

“Terra Nova is a good, fast-moving and atmospheric game - which is probably no surprise as it comes from the people who brought you System Shock.” -- PC Zone

“Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to work on my tank-busting skills provided only with a croissant, a simple blowtorch, and those new killer drone packs they gave me a couple missions ago.” -- Computer Games Magazine

Grargar: There was an expansion? I can't find anything on google.

viperfdl: According to MobyGames a multiplayer-addon was planed but never finished.
My bad, I did not verify whether it was actually finished or not.

antoniocsx: Finally, one of my favorite games of all time... Thanks, GOG!
I second that. Day 1 instabuy. Thanks, GOG!
Wow! Hard to believe this was nearly 20 years ago. I remember a demo I had kept crashing my 133 MHz CPU desk top!

Or was it 33 MHz? X-P

yyahoo: Well, the price is $5.99, and since ND suggested that their "new" $6.99 price point was one of the big issues causing the impasse, it's hard to say. ND didn't want to sell games on GOG at the $5.99 price point when they were selling them on Steam for $6.99, and GOG apparently didn't want to allow ND to sell the games at the $6.99 price point here.

In this case, Terra Nova isn't being sold on Steam, so there is no price point conflict just yet. Has ND given in on the price point issue or is this just a one-off for some reason, like maybe GOG helped ND get the game operating properly? I think only time will tell. If the Retroism/Microprose don't start showing up here soon, it will be very interesting to see what price ND decides to sell Terra Nova at when it releases on Steam.

Grargar: The $6.99 price point concerns Tommo/Retroism games. Night Dive sells Z.A.R. and Madspace for $5.99 each on Steam.
True, though they've chosen the odd $6.99 price point for some of the Humongous games as well. I'm still not completely clear whose idea the increased price point was, since it only came about after Tommo and Night Dive joined forces...

Not completely true. , [url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/286770/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_2]Shadow Ops, and the Undergarden were all released before Retroism was formed and all cost $6.99. I think it really was Tommo's idea.

Nice. Another good old game comes to good old games :)
Truly one of the more interesting games, can be quite hard at times but it's a great experience.

Well, there you go then...
OH. EM. GEE!!!

I literally gasped and quivered with joy when I saw this in my weekend sale e-mail. It's been on my wish list forever!

I was going to dig through my boxes for the disc and see if I could load it into Boxer, but now I don't have to.

There was a mission editor and at least one fan campaign; I'll have to see if I can find them...
vaguely interested, but it's more powered suits like in crysis or WH40K, rather than mechwarrior. maybe i'll get it on discount.
If this game can be poked, prodded and made to work on a modern system, how much more would it take to get the real gem in the Looking Glass stable working? That being System Shock.
Alright, bought it. Now, I hope that GOG will get Night Dive hooked up with Galaxy so we can have Strife here, and Night Dive will be able to untangle all the issues with System Shock.
I own a boxed copy of Terra Nova, but still instabought it here. Thank you Night Dive and GOG for making it available to everyone! And I consider Terra Nova to be every bit as good as System Shock, Ultima Underworld and Thief, even if the gameplay is vastly different in comparison. Every Looking Glass enthusiast (or simply anyone who thinks the FPS genre and intelligence aren't necessarily mutually exclusive) should do themselves a favor and play it now that they finally have the chance.

On a side note, I hope after System Shock 1 gets released we'll get the Flight Unlimited games and British Open Championship Golf too.

Technically, I doubt it would be much of a challenge. Legally, though? Considering that Night Dive released System Shock 2 first, I wouldn't be surprised if they did so because they knew it might take a while till the legal matters for the first game are cleared.

You want them busting into EA, buying up all the classic IP, and then suddenly merging with Valve so the games become Steam exclusives? ;-) It'd be like a dream come true.
