Trim the sails and roam the sea.

Tempest, an open-world action-RPG about plundering the seven seas with your battleship, is now available for Windows and Mac, DRM-free on GOG.com, with GOG Galaxy support for achievements and a 33% launch discount.

It's easy to romanticize the pirate's life: quests for legendary (also occasionally cursed) treasure, unrestrained killing and debauchery, unapologetically bad hygiene, the promise of endless adventure. But to indulge into all this, you must first tame the sea, which is nothing if not a cruel, demanding mistress.
Start by getting yourself a worthy vessel. Take good care of it, upgrade it, then roam the ocean, visit dozens of islands, and undertake dangerous quests. In your journeys you will do battle with enemy warships, sink galleons, and even lay siege to impenetrable forts. Stay vigilant, for giant monsters also lurk these waters, waiting to drag you down into Davy Jones' locker. But take heart, captain! You are armed with more than mere cannonballs: you have flamethrowers, mortars, mystical crystals that grant you the power to bring down meteorites or summon terrible beasts on your enemies. And of course the greatest weapon of all: your salty grit.

Grind your black teeth, grab the steering wheel, and get ready to face the Tempest, DRM-free on GOG.com. For some epic music that will keep you in a sailing mood even when not playing, don't forget to grab the game's Soundtrack.
The 33% discount will last until December 11, 10:59 PM UTC.

Can we please get this silly non-review removed?

"Sad, Sad, Sad by horatiotupper
So, when is this site gonna change their name to just "Good . . . games" or maybe just "games".) the premise of this site when I signed up so very long ago was to restore old classics, revive those games from the 'early years' of PC Gaming. Now, sadly they're a shadow of their former selves. This is just one sad example of what GOG has morphed into. There is a vast untapped treasure trove of PC games that could be brought to current market that would be enjoyed and loved. I love the games provided, and I love the pricing and I absolutely think their support is second to none. But . . . at this point its hard to discern this site from any of the other gaming sites that are out there. And it's really too bad too."

At first I thought they were going to complain about the quality of this game, but it's just an unrelated rant. :|

On topic: The game looks pretty cool, but the focus on battles and multi-player mode lowers my interest in it. Would have liked stronger single player focus and some more gameplay diversity. Nice price and small download size though.

Shakespeare, wasn't he in Grace Jones band during the Island era?
Shakespeare (Robbie) and Sly Dunbar

Does this game have a Sandbox mode or any randomization?
So this isn't the arcade game, I take it.
Man, I feel like I can count on GOG reviews less and less with each year. It just came out this afternoon on GOG, in no way should reviews be up for it already.

And 1/5 really ? That's the Steam and Metacritic mentality, where things are either 1/5 or 5/5, "fantastic" or "garbage".

Those are coming in the DLC.

Ixamyakxim: Finally someone who gets it!

It always bothers me that Midsummer Nights Dream gets all the love when The Tempest is 1,000 times better of a "lost in a mystical woods" story!
my fav as well since childhood times...Caliban, Prospero...unforgettable. And Macbeth second place.

*chuckle* a salty map pack.
There is a developer Q and A in the GoG forum for this game.

I will hold off buying to see what the game looks like after the developer adds additional content.
Fab to see Eddie Izzard in a video game.

"Yarrr! I've got a flag!"

Tyrrhia: The trailer music doesn't fit at all, in my opinion.
I don't have a problem with it in the trailer, but I sure as heck wouldn't want to play the game accompanied by it. ^_^
