Tachyon: The Fringe, an action-packed space sim, is now available, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount!

Pirates, ruthless entrepreneurs, and crime barons play nice while inside the Sol system. But once outside the jurisdiction of the Star Patrol police, your guns and thrusters are the only law that can protect you. Follow your instincts and keep your finger on the trigger while you navigate the perilous Fringe - you've got choices to make, ships and stations to blow up, and quests to see through. Bruce Campbell's voice might inspire you to play tough but save the attitude for when you've got the firepower to back it up. And when your antics attract the attention of powerful people, proceed with caution: any alliances will shape your story and upset the power balance in this lawless corner of the galaxy. You'll be fine, as long as you remember to always shoot first.

Carve out your own personal space in the dog-eat-dog world of Tachyon: The Fringe, DRM-free on GOG.com.
The 50% discount will last until January 19, 5:00 PM UTC.
GOG and publishers have been on fire lately. Thank you! :D

That's a shame. So I guess there's no way to emulate analog support for that controller?
Wow. Now that is a bona fide classic.
Where's our buddy ThomNG?! :)
You sir.. you rock!
Can you play that game with mouse and keyboard like Freespace or does one need a joystick?
Cool, I think I'll pick this up a bit later. I've been meaning to get into space-sims and the like.
(I vaguely remember someone asking for this game earlier on this forum, can't remember where.)
I just saw that there are several games from Novalogic on Steam, i guess most of these will also be released on GOG eventually:

The game looks good for an older game and I would have bought it anyway, but dam having Bruce Campbell in it as well was just perfect!
The main character is called Jake Logan? And he's voiced by Bruce Campbell?! Manliness levels are rapidly climbing, I spontaneously grew hair on my chest just reading that.

More space games hooray! But..... is it really super macho? I think I will skip then. If like Freespace 2, I am simply not interested. Onto wishlist and will try to look into its gameplay. (on a list? in a list?)
So amazing that the first game from NovaLogic is Tachyon. Love it. Must have.
Awesome news - I was an avid "space simmer" back in the day but never played this one. Before I instabuy, can I ask anyone who has played this a few questions?

IronArcturus: Does anyone know if Tachyon will work with an Xbox 360 controller?

Primarily this - can I get a confirm? This is the first question I wanted to ask when I saw the front page release. I know a lot of games from this era actually pushed the mouse and keyboard flight sim (Freelancer being another) - it was one of the reasons I sort of fell out of the genre. I'd LOVE to know if there's in game flightstick support (I'm not keen on the idea of running third party software in the background to get a freakin' FLIGHTstick to work in a FLIGHT sim).

The game is highly single player focused yes? And from what I understand, it's a open world, but with big setpiece missions right? Not linear like, say Freespace. But not as "sandbox-ey" as the X series. So you can wander the world but hit "mission areas" (quest markers) like in an RPG and do said quest. Is this more or less the idea here?

Finally, ship options - ship / system / weapon upgrades? Again, just trying to get a sense of the game before I decide to push it to the front of the line of games I want to play LOL. I've been jonesing for a flight sim for a while, and I had the last one I was playing bug out.

The one I thought I MIGHT buy to play DIDN'T HAVE FREAKIN' STICK SUPPORT LOL. So that one was out too. 35% of the reason I fire these things up is for the fun of using the flight stick. Maybe higher!

You can do exactly that if you use the right programs but it isn't always easy. First I'd try XInput Plus which can remap XInput to DirectInput. If that didn't work then I'd try Universal Joystick Remapper with vJoy.

EDIT: The PC Gaming Wiki says it doesn't support analog inputs.
