Works great. Enhanced edition seems to be the version people should play (remember to use "E" to disable and enable mouselook ingame), the classic versions are there for curious minds how cumbersome the original controls were. Damn, I am almost tempted to replay the game a third time now, it felt so nice playing and examining the first level again...

About the floppy version though: how come it has speech on the intro? That wasn't the case with the original floppy version, was it?

The floppy version has a separate shortcut. Did you use that one?

darthspudius: what is wrong with it?
avatar
budejovice: Just that it came early, before the release. I knew about today's release before leaving work last night. Surprises are nice, GOG surprises are even better. Again, a pretty minor complaint. The game is on my shelf. :)
ah ok

darthspudius: So who's that behind me with the gun to my head! You dirty liar!!! >_<

apehater: posted it already: not interested in law details in this case, its a question about sustainability, consistence, reason and fairness.
avatar
phaolo: But I don't understand what you mean! (lol stop writing the same thing).
"question about sustainability, consistence, reason and fairness" = ????

For you ND should have left the game offered for free?
Or they shouldn't have even tried to sold it?
Explain!
night dive demand money for actually just buying a piece of paper, which confirms that they have the rights. thats not consistent, reasonable or fair, its just law. if you pay that money, it won't be used to create something like a successor, thats not sustainable.

and yes they sholdn't force kolya to remove that free download.

i'm not intending to discuss further, why night dive's shady attempt to force us to pay for something they had no hand in creating, fixing or enchancing and dare to demand 10 bucks for it, while it uses community made fixes.

Strijkbout: Enhanced Edition?

Thank god I still have an original copy.
avatar
Grargar: It does include the original as well.
Very good, Enhanced Editions screams like colorrestoring silent era movies.

Sadly does not (yet) work on my machine. But "E" should be "lean right", where did they put that?

What can Black and White add to old movies other then nostalgia/history lesson?

I wonder what Citizen Kane would look like in color.
WOW.

And soundtrack is in MIDI, FLAC and mp3.

:)

WOW.

2nd question first: Shit. :P

1st question: without giving specific answers all I can say is try watching Night of the Living Dead in color (and there is a colorized version of the original). It totally destroys the movie.

Also just try to imagine Schindler's List in color. It just wouldn't work, especially given the famous 'little girl' scene.

You don't see a whole lot of color film noirs. There's a reason. The use of light and shadow in film is much more effective when using black and white over color. Trust me, there's a lot more than just "nostalgia/history lesson" to black and white photography/film...

All I can think of proper use of black and white is only for Film Noir movies. And speaking of Schindler's List didn't someone from the Jewish Community refer to that movie as "Kitsch?"

Yes I mentioned that already here. Film Noir is nothing without black and white.

I'm not against restoring movies in general as celluloid is too fragile te be lasting medium, but I rather watch Laurel and Hardy in B&W than someones interpretation of what color was used. Also B&W movies had their lighting adapted for it and any colorized picture I've seen looks unnatural.

As for Citizen Kane, before his death Orson Welles apparently was against colorizing it.

Great, I love it when a series gets completed!
