I'd buy and play this game wherever you sell it.

Honestly, I've bought your game now. I'd read about it but didn't know it was DRM Free on Steam. GOG does have installers though, Steam you'd still need to install Steam itself to download it initially.

I'm slightly worried that you like other devs might not release dlc or later updates here as has happened before due to GOG being smaller and thus not worth the effort. I bought your game, I hope to see what's next for the game and the sequel.

I don't get it. The Linux version is already DRM-free on steam, and if you ignore integrations with GOG or Galaxy (which there aren't on Linux), all you end up doing is uploading that build onto GOG. Unless there is something I don't know about, even those two sales that you mentioned are, essentially, free money you're missing out on...though I expect more than two sales given that GOG too, has a Linux userbase that is craving for more titles they can get their hands on.

First of all I want to say, thanks for the release of the game here and thanks in general for creating this game.
Regarding GOG and DRM-Free ... Game is available on Steam, but the information that it is DRM-Free there is not in sight. This could only be learned from you as dev or by conducting a special "investigation." And not everyone likes or they have the desire and/or time to look for it somewhere on the forums.
In addition, there is an important point: even if the game itself does not contain DRM, it is necessary to install a store client to use Steam game, and it is necessary to use it (even if the game is completely NOT attached to the client, even in this case at least once - to install the game). Because Steam client itself will play the role of DRM. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management This is exactly what the Steam client is doing (among other things)).

On the other hand, a potential buyer, buying a game here (on GOG), knows for sure that the game will be DRM-Free, and the client will not have to install it and play. And some buyers appreciate this attitude of the store and developers: when you buy, you pay money, but at the same time you are not treated like a potential thief. And such an approach in the opinion of such users deserves encouragement. Therefore, if you can buy the game in different stores, the buyer chooses the one in which the buyer feels more comfortable.
And of course, the factor “I have a lot of games in my X store, I want my games to be in one and not scattered in ten different ones”. I have bought over 1800 games here, and I am very glad that I could add your game to that collection.

(If I understand correctly) So technically speaking even though on Steam there's a Linux version, you're not sure if it will stay there indefinitely because of the performance of the port, and the Windows one eventually runs better under Wine/Proton?

You can't INSTALL the game without Steam-client. As I wrote earlier: you will have to use it at least once. This is at least one time more than some would like.

Steam itself implies DRM for multiple reasons, that's why many GOG users don't use Steam at all. Please consider that this is not ignorance, but conscious choice.
