There are no two ways about it, Sublevel Zero is a revival of the classic Descent gameplay, with a very modern and engaging twists - it hits all the right spots, and up and down will soon lose all meaning.

Start your descent in Sublevel Zero available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. The launch discount will last for one week, until October 15, 3:59 PM GMT.

yogsloth: 1) A shooter with procedurally-generated levels instead of intelligent and conscious level design
2) No saving and permadeath

Look, it's the anti-me game!

takezodunmer2005: Agreed, the only game that should have perma-death is these fuckin' lazy-Rogue lite bore fests...

There's no challenge in running through the same thing over and over, DIE run through level one again, learned to move over there, die run through level one again..Learned how to move over there, now here, die,run through level one again. Learned how to move over there, here, now jump over this, DIE, run through level one again. Learned how to move over there, then here, jump over this, and duck under that, Die, Etc..Etc...Win Level, now to do the same thing for the next 20 levels... <---Looks just how rogue lite plays....BORING...But pretty..
Didn't you just describe the formula for Super Mario Brothers?

And Castlevania?

And.... most of the platformers from the NES era?
I love Descent and Descent-like games so this game is really a nice surprise for me. Wishlisted it for now.
Hmm, a bit late to the discussion on this one. I'm guessing "no lives and no saves" means it's Descent crossed with Luftrausers. Are there unlocks, so that later plays have more options available?
It looks really cool! Although I heard it doesn't have a lot of content. May wait until a sale.

Yes. From the gamecard
"Crafting - Collect a wide range of randomly-generated weapons, upgrades and game-changing items. Craft them together to equip your gunship for your play style. Unlock more items and blueprints as you play and keep those unlocks across playthroughs."

I'm curious about this game. Looks right up my alley. I used to love Descent and just bought it from the promo... I need to fire it up soon to see if I'm still good at 6 degrees of freedom. Otherwise it's pointless for me to wishlist this game.
Bleargh, why is everything procedurally generated now?

Recipes reset after death, so I did not feel like there was much progression. So I refunded it. If it's descent you are after this doesn't even compare (or even Luftrausers for that matter), it's more or less like Tower of guns without starting weapon variations/unlokcs which makes it even more dull.

Castlevania typical games have save features so hours of your work isn't wasted, as well as not having to traverse several maps to get to where you last died...And besides, I never cared for most platforms without a save/password feature anyways...I was/am primarily into RPGs. ;^)
