Goodness what a pleasant surprise. I did not know Stronghold warlords was coming to GoG. Has anyone tested to see if multiplayer works well for GoG owners? Cross play?

This is at the bottom of the store page
-------------------

Please note: GOG GALAXY is required to access online features for Stronghold: Warlords.
Multiplayer is available only between GOG users.

So no cross play by the looks of it.
I've stumbled upon a streamer who played it and there wasn't key rebindings in the game, I doubt it'll be implemented soon, just so you know.

Cheers!
From the few reviews I've read thus far they seem to be favorable.

Still hoping for the eventual GOG release of Stronghold 2 and Legends.

Why is it that this happens in so many games? This does not seem hard to fix, is it.

The game itself looks great.

This game looks kind of interesting.

But having no Crossplay sucks.

And it seems like you can't play as knights in medieval castles in this game? I'm not sure why they wouldn't include that feature. That's a pretty huge thing to omit.
No Stronghold 2/Stronghold Legends? :(

Because this game is focusing on east & southeast Asia?

Medieval, yes. Just in Asia.

I have both games on disc which are DRM-free already. So why would both not be on GOG is mind-boggling to me.

Both use SecuROM v7.

They pushed the SH2 and SHL Steam Editions hard for the Steamworks multiplayer and Workshop integration, and they'll only consider doing Steam-to-Galaxy crossplay if there is enough interest from the latter's userbase.

Could you post the source? Why do the developers think, the (probably much) smaller userbase opposes crossplay? If there is enough of a userbase to justify the work is another question, but the lack of crossplay surely decreases it.

sik.crash: Why do the developers think, the (probably much) smaller userbase opposes crossplay?
I think you misunderstood: they and several other developers don't go through the effort of enabling Steam-to-Galaxy crossplay simply because they expect drastically less sales on GOG and can't warrant training devs how to use the Galaxy multiplayer infrastructure because of that. I didn't say anyone among players opposes crossplay.
I wish this had real multiplayer (direct connections/LAN) so I could play with the husband.
