In the press:

Stronghold Crusader II was a rare game that I got lost in. I started playing and before I knew it, it was six hours later. Who can resist a game about castle building, economy raising, and taking on large castles full of troops and hazards? Especially when you can soften up the numbers by launching diseased animals over castle walls.--Dark Station

The first thing that you'll notice when making your initial tentative steps into Stronghold Crusader II is the level of detail that's been invested into making its world as joyous to behold for the player as possible. --Game Revolution

Matruchus: Yep its still the same state as it was released in. Steam actually removed all the notice for negative rating cause the game was rated around 30%.

ElTerprise: Well that's a great behaviour. I guess that explains why Stronghold 3 is not on GOG....
What I don't get is why are Stronghold 2 and Stronghold Legends still missing from gogs catalog. Granted they aren't on the same level as Stronghold HD + Crusader HD.

That's a good question. I have no idea but frankly i didn't expect Stronghold Crusader 2 come either...

As far as I understand it is that while Firefly Studios owns the IP itself 2K actually owns those two particular games still. The rights of the games may eventually revert back to Firefly as it happened with the original Stronghold and Crusader, but who knows when that may be.

While I don't mind the addition of SC2 to GOG, I also would much rather see S2 and SL here.
GOG - Thanks for another DRM free release. It's always nice to see the bigger games here.

FireFly - Due to mixed reviews and the very high price, this is going on my wishlist. I really liked your earlier games.

Yeah, the regional pricing on this game is really bad.

care to explain what is your problem with that?
is this year old game stripped of some essential features that are available only in these 4 dlcs and we are forced to buy them?
or maybe developers should be forbidden from offering paid dlcs for their games, no matter how much these xpansion add, simply because we gamers are entitled to receive them for free?
i mean, back in the old days there were never such things as paid expansions packs, right, right???

Depends whether these DLC have expansion like content or not (ie skins or cheats etc)

All of the dlc bring maps on the skirmish map trail and two new ai opponents + achievements and unique ai castles.

Hmmm, maybe. The very first Stronghold was one of the best RTSes ever made--it had the best of both Caesar and Lords of the Realm with a heap of Pythonesque charm--but I found Crusader to be a bit too Starcraft-y and and sequels were a huge mess. But surely the ole piggy wouldn't agree to come back if the game's terrible? The lad has standards, after all...very glorious standards indeed.
Sweet! The original Stronghold and Crusader are awesome, but not so much the sequels. However I've read that this one is better, so I want to try it. Wishlisted. Thank you, gog.
Probably better off waiting for a "complete" edition with all the DLC in a few months...

I looked on Steam for Stronghold 2 and couldn't find it. Seems to be on a 2k shop though.
